He's Got Nature in His Hands
Coloring Cloud Nines
Summer is fast approaching and we look forward to celebrating this season!
To slowly transition from the lovely colorful flowers that the season of spring has, we experienced coloring “clouds” which reminded our teachers of a fun sweet treat that they used to have back when they were younger.
With big fluffs of nylon cotton lying atop the table, it was an interesting experience to witness a different way to add colors to a “blank canvas”. Using pipette, it was quite a sight to witness how colored dye would gently and slowly run down in between the fibers of the nylon cotton. It was like watching raindrops falling on window glass. Since nylon cotton was a treat to our sense of touch, a few of us went home with colored dyed hands! Yet nothing to worry about as we used vegetable dye which can be washed off!
Another interesting observation we noticed is how bubbles form when we pinch the pipette while inside the bowl of diluted dye. Some of us recalled the similarity of the observation with how bubbles form when we act silly with our saliva.
Aside from colored dye, we also got to use a tray of watercolors! It was fun to look at the many shades of primary colors and identify how it is different from each other. And oh! Can you guess who had a special treat of having an exclusive pampering manicure session?
Colorful Stringy Lines Peeking through Holes
Lots of different “lines” were up for us to use and loop through cartons. Fuzzy wires, yarn, garter, braided ropes provided us with a variety of challenges best suited for our developing fine motor skills. The fuzzy wires were catered for the younger ones since it is sturdier while the braided ropes were for the older ones as it was more flimsy in structure providing them with a challenge to think critically on how to successfully loop it through the holes.
Plastic pegs were also available for us to use to which some of us looped it through fuzzy wires. We ended up making a colorful-wired fill motherboard computer hardware. Other interesting moments that took place was forming numbers and shapes using the garter and placing fallen flowers inside the carton’s holes.
Hanging Up our Laundry
We have noticed our teachers being occupied with assisting some of our friends in using the toilet to avoid ending up with “wet” bottoms. Since a lot of us are potty training, our teachers are also guiding us in being responsible of changing and packing away soiled clothes. Since soiled clothes are “wet”, it needs to be hanged up dry! With a long clothesline hanged across the room, we used hangers and pegs to hang smocks and scarves.
Each of us had a different way of using the hanger and pegs… one of us even managed to hang a toy car!
Circle Time
We danced along to Patti Shukla’s “Shake & Move” to transition to Circle Time. Afterwards, we were shown the book, “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands”by Kadir Nelson to which by now, we can easily sing-a-long to without guidance. With its beautiful illustrations, we musically narrated the story… appreciating the beautiful components of nature that our Mother Earth has to offer. Our favorite page would have to be the moon and the stars!
After going through the book, we continued using the song to do our morning name roll call. By doing so, it strengthens our memory as we had to remember the names called to successfully repeat the stanzas.
Out to the Pond
With the sun shining bright down on us, we went out to see the pond. It is interesting to note that we remind each other upon nearing the pond about our friend “Quiet Bear”. Quiet Bear reminds us to use our gentle voice while out in the be respectful of the neighborhood surrounding us.
It was refreshing to see the many green plants around us and play “peek a boo” with the fishes hiding from us.
On the way back, we were in for a treat as several gardeners were trimming down the bushes along the narrow alley that we walk through. We got to walk on leaves which tickled our senses by hearing “crunchy” sounds when we step and a “leaf-y” scent!
We hope you all are having a lovely Tuesday so far!
Love,
Buds Class Children
