Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother’s Day everyone! We heard from our friends that they had a great time yesterday with their dearest moms! Before we talked about Mother’s Day we enjoyed our morning free play and craft time with our new friend K! We played with the Kapla and Cork blocks and did Mother’s Day crafts together. Kapla blooks are small rectangular wooden planks that we can freely use to make anything we want! We mixed them with bigger cork blocks to make a huge castle together! We sat down with Vieda and drew our mommy’s faces and wrote something about our moms. It didn’t look like it was going to rain anytime soon so we quickly finished up our snacks then went to the park. No one else was at the park so we had the whole park to ourselves! After we got back from the park we gathered together to have our circle time.

We started our circle time reading “Don’t Let the Aliens Get My Marvellous Mum” by Gillian Shields and Liz Pichon. It was a cute book about a little girl who wondered what would happen if aliens abducted her amazing mom. Who was going to wake the girl up with a great big smile or show her the stars at night? We finished the book first then talked about our moms.

Z: Marevellous means good!

S: (If aliens took my mom) I’d cry.

T: Maybe mom’s just going for a short business trip.

Z: You have to be more careful so you dad won’t get taken away.

Ki: I see a real alien before.

T: I had a dream before where my mom was taken away by alien. I’m so happy it wasn’t real.

Nimo: What does your mom do?

S: My Mom does sentaku (laundry).

T: My mom helps me not get into trouble.

H: Mommy bakes me cakes.

K: Mom makes my lunch.

K: She takes care of me.

B: Cooks me dinner.

K: Cooks my lunch.

Ki: My mom works in a shop.

K: Yesterday was Mother’s Day.

Our Question of the Day was, “Did you do something for mommy yesterday?”.

S: I gave my mom a letter and flowers.

K: I gave her flowers.

D: I made something, I made a cake for mommy!

K: I draw something and give it to mommy.

H: Hug.

T: I helped mom with the laundry and let my mom sleep for a long time because I know she loves to sleep.

Z: I gave her a present, like cards!

B: I made mommy a card.

K: Some moms work because jobs pay you money so we can buy food and some clothing.

Nimo: Your homework today is to watch what your mom does and say thank you for whatever she does for you.

Hope everyone has a lovely evening, and we will see you all tomorrow for our Mother’s Day Zoom Party at 10AM!

Love,

Flowers
