Easter Egg Hunt!
Welcome back to school everyone! Hope everyone had a lovely weekend and for those of you that celebrate Easter Sunday, we hope you all had a great time! We had a great time this morning playing with the K’nex! We have a giant box of it so there is more than enough for all of us. Many of us worked alone to make our own robots, spinners, and other gadgets. We would show our friends and spent the rest of our free play time playing with our creations together. Today we helped Nimo make the envelope for the card we made for Kenta-san at the Post Office. We wrote down the address on the envelope and our teachers were very pleased with how well we wrote! A few of us sat down with Vieda to finish any crafts from yesterday.
Before we went to the park, we quickly talked about Easter Sunday. A few of our friends said they had a great time going out Egg Hunting and eating chocolate eggs! When we got to Step Park, we found out that our teachers have hid eggs inside the park, and we had to go around looking for it. The eggs used for this game were the ones we colored with Vieda during our craft time, it was a lot of fun using our Easter Eggs for hunting! After everyone found their eggs, we were free to play. We spent a little bit of time around the large slide until one of our friends noticed, “Uh-oh… It’s starting to rain!”. Luckily the rain wasn’t too bad so we could walk back to school slowly and carefully without getting too wet.
When we got back to school we sang a few songs like, Good morning, How are you, Ohana Song, and Jingle Bells! We had B tell us the date today, then D and Y read the question of the day, “Do you know about Earth Day?”.
Nimo: What do you think is Earth Day is about?
K: Easter?
D: I don’t know.
A:…Earth?.....?
Nimo: Great! Earth, for “Earth Day”. What do you do on Earth day?
A: We can help the earth.
Nimo: How can we help? Eat chocolate?
D: I want Chocolate…
A: (“Chocolate) Only at Thanksgiving.
T: Why can’t we have chocolate in school?
Nimo: Try and think why?
K: Because they are junk food.
Nimo: Why are they “junk” food?
K: They have lots of sugar, it’s sweet, and it give you cavities.
T: How about salami and ham?
Nimo: You can have them for snack at Ohana.
Z: What is salami?
T: Salami is very yummy, it’s a circle shape, and when you first look at it, it looks yucky, but when you eat it , it’s very good. It’s made from pig.
Z: Oh!
A: How about macaroni? Are they junk food?
Nimo: Macaroni are ok, they are pasta.
D: Marshmallow.
K: Sweet.
K: Lot of salt is also bad like potato chips.
Nimo: The fat they use fry it are also unhealthy.
T: Is coconut oil unhealthy?
Z: How about fruit juice?
Nimo: Coconut oil is good oil, people use it for lots of things. Fruit juice can be healthy if it’s just fruits.
After talking briefly about junk food, we got back on track about “Earth” day.
Nimo: What can we do on Earth Day?
B: We can make an Earth art and stick it on the ceiling.
K: Earth has plastic, and plastic is not good for the earth.
K: Reduce, reuse, recycle.
D: *Starts singing the 3R song*
Z: One time I bought hot chocolate, and when I went home I used the cup for something, I reused.
N: Who lives on Earth?
A: Me!
B: Me and my mom, and my dad.
A: Everyone in the world.
K: You can’t live in space because there is no food or oxygen.
Nimo read us a book called, “Here We Are” by Oliver Jeffers. The book was about the planet Earth and some of the places and things the world has.
B: (In the ocean) there is a broken ship in there.
K: Like the Titanic.
Our homework for today, is to think of something we can do on Earth Day.
Before we had our lunch we played another round of egg hunt inside the classroom, the difference this time was that our eggs had a prize inside! If we were able to find an egg, we could take what ever was inside home. Our first round had animal/vehicle erasers and our second round had magnet flags inside!
Thank you all for another lovely Day! Take care and we will see you all again tomorrow!
Love,
Flower
