Hard and Soft Pasta

Hello everyone! Hope that you had a great weekend! Today, we were so ready for the activities being prepared for us.

Table Activities

It was nice to see that there were some tubs of various sensory materials on table. There were cloth flowers, pinecones, and kinetic sand. We also had a big painting activity on the other table. The first step that we did was to scribble with crayons, and we chose all the bright colors that we could find. Of course, we made various shapes such as circle and squares then the rest was lots of lines and dots around the paper.

We loved the fact that we were starting to get used to the idea of transferring materials from one container to the other. The first table was called our Buffet Activity wherein we pretended to scoop that we wanted to eat. The cloth flowers were the pretend salad, the pinecones were the meat, and the sand was the whole flavor that we could ever think of.

On the other table, we focused on using our blocks and finger puppets. This is a good opportunity to be imaginative and to create situations where we could build structures and places. We have lots of amazing time doing this with our friends. The cushion slides were also there for us to do because it was nice to move our bodies up and down. This time, we also experimented on making the objects slid down the equipment and it was great to have this discovery and to willingly do this on our own.

Circle time

We all gathered around in circle, and we started moving and our bodies here and there. John used a special instrument called the “rattle bar”. This instrument made a rattling sound when you squeezed it from side to side. We ran, jumped, and moved around repeatedly. We also listened intently whether the sound was loud or soft. When it was soft, we tended to walk very slowly and when it’s fast, we got excited and ran/moved as fast as we could.

After a great warm-up, we all began singing the “How are you, song” Here we learned more about our emotions – sad, happy, hungry, surprised, and excited. It’s good that we have a chance of expressing more of our feelings and to say it in front of our class confidently makes a big difference in how we are getting more comfortable with one another.

Harry the Hedgehog came to our class and we’re so happy to be able to talk to him. He told us that he’s feeling hungry and wanted to eat something. So, John offered to give him pasta. He brought two types of pasta one was cooked and the other one was uncooked. We were asked what’s the difference between the two and here were the responses:

S : It has different colors.

T: One is yellow. One is white

K: Big! (with his arms stretched wide – the cooked pasta looked bigger in size)

R: It’s soft. (cooked pasta)

Su: The other one is hard. (uncooked pasta)

In the end, Harry the Hedgehog was able to eat the cooked pasta because he said that it was so soft. We loved seeing him getting his tummy full and happy with what we gave him.

Park time

It’s so cold today but that didn’t stop us from playing at the park. We had so much fun chasing and running after the balls. Our teachers played the racing game as well that we all loved.

Thank you so much Ohana and see you all again tomorrow.

Lots of love,

All the children from Buds class
