Our Unique Voice

Happy Friday! Our teachers mentioned to us yesterday that it would be a short school day today. We did not realize how short the day would be and were quite surprised to sing our goodbye song so early!

For morning activities, we had a wonderful time turning boxes into colorful ones by gluing lots of colored papers. Do you know that we are going to use these boxes for our Sports Day? We also enjoyed giving our little pumpkins faces. We hope you won’t find  them too scary when you attend our party on the 31st.

After rehearsing our songs and dance with Maryna and our teachers, we thought of going to the park. We checked the time and decided that perhaps it would be a better idea to have our circle time. We love to share our ideas with our friends, and we always look forward to learning from each other.  Please read on to find out our interesting chat today😊

Huge thanks to our calendar helpers, R and H for telling us the date and weather. We looked at out school calendar and saw the red days next week. Au mentioned that “no school on red days”. We counted the days that we will miss each other and feel happy to have a week of fall where we could spend time with our families. Fall? What does that mean? We remembered the leaves that we gathered at the park yesterday.

            Ky: Leaves are red.

Hi: Red, yellow, orange, and green. Leaves on down.

Au: We picked the leaves on the ground. They fall from the trees.

Yes, fall or autumn is one of the four seasons in Japan. During this season, leaves turn their colors into red, yellow, or brown and they fall to the ground. Then we looked back at our calendar and realized that it’s our Halloween party when we come back to school on the 31st. Yay! We love Halloween party because we like dressing up. This year’s Halloween party is also special because one of our parents could attend, too! Some of our friends shared what their costume would be, while some said, “Secret!”, which was okay too! Ky said that “I already told my mommy and daddy to wear costumes”. Au looked a little worried when he said, “But my mommy and daddy and me when to the costume shop. But they said that they only have costumes for kids like me but not for my mommy and daddy”. We shared that perhaps they could try buying from Amazon or even making their own costumes! We are looking forward to having our parents join our Halloween party on the 31st! Thank you so much in advance for your support! We can’t wait to see you in your costumes!

For our question of the day, we love reading it by ourselves! Since we had a small group today, we felt proud as we each had a turn in reading it. It said, “Do we all have the same voice”.

Ky: But some people some voice is the same.

Hi: Mommy has brother and sister. Have same voice.

Sh: When we stop the breathe, we just do this (opened his mouth).

Each of us in the circle said, “HELLO” as we tried to listen whether we had the same voice or not. At the end of it, we looked at each other and told Vieda, “Hmm, maybe we have same voice!”. Vieda nodded and said, “Let’s try to do this game like when we play Who Took the Cookie from the Cookie Jar”. We covered our eyes while Vieda tapped one of our friends who would say, Hello or Ah. Then, we would try to guess whose voice it was. It was amazing that we were able to guess our friend’s voice even without seeing their face!

We could agree that our voice is not the same at all. It might be similar with some of our family members, but not the same. As we talked about the muscles that our voice cords have, Sh was surprised to hear that our heart is a muscle as well. He was not here when we talked about the heart. He was curious when he asked, “I don’t believe that heart is a muscle. Are you sure it is? Did you know that because you read it from our big book about our bodies?” When Vieda said that all Flowers teachers read books before we talk about things in our circle time, Sh said in a big smile, “Okay then, I believe you!”.

Our body is such an amazing machine! It does many things that we do not see which makes it more amazing! We are always excited when we learn more things about our body parts, especially those which are inside of us that we could not see. Cheers to more discoveries about our body!

We wish you a happy fall break! We are excited to see you in your costume on the 31st!

 Love,

Flowers Class
