Our Jobs at Home
We are all special, and so are our families. Some of our families have pets, some don’t. Some are big in number, some are small. In Flowers, our families speak in different languages with each other at home. Families speak in Japanese, English, Lithuanian, and Cantonese. We also learned that although we all live in Japan, the houses that we live in are different, too. Some of us live in bricks (and according to Za, “The wolf can never ever come in our house because it’s made of brick!”), some in tall buildings and some in a house that has two floors. Our families can be as unique as we are. Just like we have been saying, it’s okay to be different😊
A very big thanks to Me for reading our question of the day for us at circle time, “Do you have a job at home?”. She was so excited about it that she asked, “What is the job at home?’.
To start off our discussion, Vieda asked, “What do you usually do at home?”.
Za: I play and draw lots of beautiful pictures with my family!
K: I draw and play by myself.
Di: I play turbo.
S: I play.
U: I play with my hamster.
No: I will wash the cage of my hamster when I get home.
Be: I play with my daddy with my trains.
Ch: I write diaries and lots of homework.
Me: I play robot with my sister.
These are the things that we love doing at home. Could this be our jobs at home? U shared her thought about jobs. She said, “A job is you have to do something. If your mom is working and there is a mess, you to do a job”. After that, Vieda asked the question again, “Do you have a job at home?”.
K: I clear my toys with Daddy, but sometimes by myself.
Be: I take laundry out with my mom.
D: Clean my toys.
Me: I help Mommy with sister to do laundry. When I got up, I have to do it by myself.
Za: I give some of my stuff to my baby sister. My Mommy also tells me to make some cards for my Daddy on his birthday.
U: Sometimes my big brother, L and me wash the dishes. Daddy gives me money when we clean up.
N: Sometimes me and Una wash the dishes. I don’t get money from Daddy.
M: My sister said no washing of dishes because I’m still small. I’m big but my sister always says no to me because I’m still small. I’m still 5 years old and my sister is longer than me because she’s already 10.
Ch: I wash the clothes. Mommy takes out the clothes and I fold it.
U: My Mommy put clothes in the washing machine. I help her hang the clothes. I also help Mommy fold it, too.
Za: I always do at home. I clean the floors with broom. I do it with my Mommy.
U: Sometimes I clean up with Noah. I wipe the floor with tissue and wipes. Sometimes my dad told me to wipe the table and wash the plates.
Ch: I wipe the table.
K: I clean the floor, too.
S: I clean with Io. Io is 7 years old.
Ra (He looked at the picture cards of children helping at home. Then pointed to) washing dishes, setting the table and cleaning.
Learning about the jobs that we can do at home is fun as we sing a song about it! The song goes in the tune of The Mulberry Bush.
There is a job we do at home, do at home, do at home
There is job we do at home, as a family.
We are so proud of our Flowers friends who are great helpers at home! Way to go, everyone! Perhaps, next time we will talk about the kind of feelings we get when we help at home.
MORNING ACTIVITIES
Sports Day is very soon. On a table, we got busy working on our poster. U, Me and S shared ideas and worked collaboratively for our poster. Una thought that it would be great if all the names of Flowers class will be on the poster. U and Me took time to write the names of all their friends to make the poster amazing! Some of our friends also joined in and drew pictures. Then, we all decorated the poster with masking tapes, and other collage materials. We can’t wait to show our posters to everyone!
We hope that you had a wonderful Wednesday, too!
See you all again tomorrow!
Love,
Flowers
