The Olympic Flame
[Free Play Time]
H and A came to Petals and asked, “Where are the other Petals?” Sayaka said, “You are the first one coming to Petals today. Would you like to choose a toy to play with?” H requested to play with the building blocks. We had the building blocks at the back of the classroom. On the big table was arts and crafts and we made our own torch. To make the Olympic torch, we stuck some tissue paper onto the construction paper. Once it looks like a flame, Sayaka helped us to glue it in the paper tube. Ta-daa, our paper torch is complete! Then we started cleaning up and we had our snack time.
[Circle Time]
“Do you want to go to the park?” Our teachers asked us during snack time. Who says “no” to that question? We said, “Ohhhh yes!” So, after we finished our snack time we got ready to go to the park. As we started our circle time, we sang our morning song. Sayaka started talking about the big ceremony of the Olympics. Each country has a different way to celebrate the Olympics. At first we watched the video, and the title was The History of the Olympic Flame. The video introduced to us how to do the torch relay. The athlete was running and holding the torch. Our teacher added that this is a very important ceremony for the Olympics. O was excitedly saying, “Fire! Fire! Fire!” Our teachers nodded and said, “It is the torch like you made today.” The second video was the ceremony of London in 2012. At the end of the video, there was a “big fire” called cauldron. “I know it’s fireworks!” Hamish pointed out and that was the end. Both videos were very interesting and beautiful. It made us want to try to use the torch that we made. After that, Sayaka asked us to lineup on the blue line and started explaining what we were going to do. Please enjoy the video! It was a fun activity.
We had a wonderful day! See you all tomorrow.
P.S We were going to go to the park, but we didn’t have enough time so we enjoyed going for a walk today.
Love,
