Flowers! Oh, beautiful flowers!
Hope that everyone had a nice Golden Week. It was a long and restful weekend. We definitely missed Ohana and coming to school today was such a treat for all of us to have.
Table Activities
Potpourri-making
It was nice to start our day with some sensory materials we have gathered in the past few weeks. There were some cut-out colorful pieces of paper, tissue, washi paper, sparkles, wooden chips, cellophane, tea leaves and actual dried potpourri. We’re excited putting and collecting them to put in long sheet of transparent cellophane sheet. We couldn’t take our eyes and hands off of the materials and some of our friends decided to cut some felt paper with scissors. Wow! We are really learning this year as we are all brave enough to use the scissors and even requested our teachers to show how to use them the right way. Of course, they were all nice and helpful as we attempted to use the scissors with our paper.
Puzzles and Blocks
The other two tables were filled with matching tiles, puzzles and some blocks. After washing our hands, we were all so busy as we tried to experiment with our hands and enjoyed connecting and building the puzzle pieces and blocks altogether. It was not really that easy to them but we tried our very best to make sure that everything is in the right place and our work was appreciated by the people around us. The block play is our class favorite so it is always busy and most of us got a chance to create our own neighborhood. It was great to see how we were able to understand the concept of building a town using blocks and construction materials.
Cars, Books and many more
Tamara was so kind to get some story books and life books for all of us. With her gentle voice, she read us stories and we were all ears listening to her sweet and beautiful story. Thank you, Tamara. On the other hand, Erika was also so kind helping to play with the cars and we just adored her patience and presence that lights up the room.
Circle time
We did our usual warm-up exercises and we love to move around the classroom. The morning workout was just great because we enjoyed getting more chance of exercising and exploring how we can move with our legs and arms.
Next, we all sat down and learned reading our names by sight. We then noticed that John was holding a tray of flowers and all of us were quite curious and asked, “What is that?’ and “Why?”. John said that there is going to be a special mom’s day on the weekend and today, we’ll pretend what flowers we want to give our mommy. We chose various types of flowers from the tray. When we finished choosing, we walked and danced around to the tune of “I love you, mommy” and we all swayed and enjoyed singing to our mommies.
Story time
I love you, mummy by Melanie Joyce
It was a great book about a patient Mummy bear who taught her baby on how to climb and swim.
Park time
It was nice to see Petals and Flowers at the park today. It was a fun day!
Lots of love,
All the children from Buds Class
