Roarrrrr!
Who ROARs like that? Together with Erika, we talked about one of the popular performers in the circus, clowns. Today, we talked about the ring master who can train some of the wildest animals like tigers, bears and lions. The mighty lion can be so fearsome and can even jump through a ring of fire! We can also be strong and brave like a lion at the circus! Here is what we did...
Morning Activities
Making A Lion Mask
This morning we were busy working on stage 1 of making a lion mask: painting a paper plate with yellow and orange paint. A lot of our friends opted for the stronger color, orange and enjoyed seeing Mr. Yellow slowly being overtaken by Mrs. Orange. Nanako explained that it was important to fill in all the white spaces. Sometimes we can be so into the moment like when we are enjoying the effect of the colors mixing or having our fingers dipped in paint and smacking our hands on the plate! In the next weeks, we are hoping to work on stage 2: sticking strips of paper for the mane. Hopefully we will be ready to become the mighty lions for our Shapes Carnival!
The Ring of Fire!!!
Here at this table was a hula hoop which we were tempted to take it the floor area to play with. Teacher Erika and Tamara patiently and kindly explained to us to first tear some tissue paper. Meanwhile the teachers carefully stuck some both-sided tape around and around the hoop. The next step was to stick the strips of orange tissue paper on it so they looked like blazing fire!
Playdough
There is not a day when we don’t enjoy sensory play. Sometimes, we may come into the classroom feeling sad, missing our mommies and daddies and especially on those days, sensory play help us a lot to calm us down. Some of us loved being at this table that we stayed here most of the morning making “sausages” and “French fries.”
Big Lego Blocks and Imaginative Play
Another thing we love to do, is to play in our imaginary world. E was busy putting away the bottles of ‘drink’ into the ‘fridge’ perhaps seeing her mommy or daddy do the same thing at home. H was enjoying something she had ‘cooked’ in a pot. We also had a great time piling up the Lego pieces and making a tower taller than our own heights!
Circle Time and Park Time
As we gathered around the circle, we did some movements pretending to be different animals like a kangaroo, snake and rabbit. We were preparing ourselves to become a ...but before that we sang our Good Morning song and greeted our friends and teachers with our name cards. The teachers were happy to hear more friends being able to guess the names of our friends after hearing the first sound like “J” for “J***!”
Then Nanako took out a book and asked if we knew who the character was on the cover page. E said, “bear.” Yes, it was a bear but not just any bear, it was Paddington and the story was about him visiting a circus for the first time. We saw a page with a clown wearing a funny costume and also a man in a suit with a tall black hat. Nanako explained he was the ring master who is like the boss on the stage. Sometimes a ring master can train some animals do some special tricks like making a lion jump through a ring of fire. So why not we become one!?
At the park, we took some balls along with some small hula hoops. The teachers showed us various tricks using the hoops and it was a hit!
Thank you for another lovely day :)
Love from all the buds xoxo
