Balancing Acts
Smearing Glittery Magic
The pop out color group art just had an upgrade with the help of sparkly glitter. We seldom use glitters which is why working with this medium was a rather new experience for us. Most of us had our palms covered with these tiny sparkles which provided a different “feeling”. It felt like we had magical powers when glitter fell from our hands when we rubbed it together.
Sensory Table
Together with John, we had loads of fun exploring sensory materials to add on to our existing artworks. We wrapped long strips of tape around the paper mache Earth balls from last week and rolled it around left over Hinamatsuri paper cut outs.
The colorful sensory bottles were also made available for us to line up, categorize by height, weight, and colors.
Balancing, Stacking, Keep Still!
The word “balance” have been a word that have been often used the past weeks in preparation for our carnival themed culminating activity. Stacking have been one of favorite activities and our teachers have raised it up to another level by providing us with materials with are of an odd shape like rubber animals, pompoms and different shaped wooden blocks. To make the challenge more appealing and enticing, these stacking objects were presented together with either the Pallina toy, a glossy paper, and a light table. One of us even noticed how the translucent blocks when placed on the light table are able to somehow reflect colorful lights.
Tearing Cellophane
Colored cellophane paper are always fun to use as it offers us a different colored perspective when we place it on our eyes. Our initial action was to crumple, when guided, we were able to smoothly tear it into smaller pieces.
CIRCLE TIME
Our dancing hips swayed a lot to the catchy version of “Hockey Pockey” by Sangeetha Thangarjan. For our morning roll call, we were each greeted by a circus animal to which we had to take care of before playing with it. After saying our names out loud and greeting each other a hearty “Good Morning!”, we were asked to put all our circus animals on top of our heads. Placing it on top of our heads was quite easy for some of us! A piece of block was next given to each of us to place our circus animals on it. When placed on the floor… easy peasy! But when asked to place it on top of our head, nose, or on our palm… that’s a different story!
After practicing with our circus animals, we all had a wooden stick which we used to spin cups on. It was amazing to see almost all of us be able to do this trick! We felt fantastic!... Just like the amazing carnival performers!
At the park, we played together with the children from Petals class and had fun chasing spinning rings and jump ropes. We hope you had a wonderful day!
