We had a wonderful Norway day. R (S’s mom) taught us interesting things about Norway. After we learnt it, we felt that we would like to visit there! We had an early snack time because we had a special visitor! “Hi S’s mommy!” we all greeted her. As she started she showed us the Norwegian flag. It had red, blue, and white. She also showed the map of Norway. Then, the next picture she showed was very beautiful. The view was from S’s grandparent’s house. “Lots of snow!” we commented on the photo. Sayaka was wondering if she can visit there. S answered that there is soooo much snow so she can’t go now. “Fjord” is another thing we learnt today. It is water coming down from the mountains and similar to a river, she explained to us. The next photo was the Northern lights– it was amazing! What she said was true, it looks like lights dancing in the sky! “This is so beautiful,” our teacher said. R also introduced delicious food and we all love them. Cinnamon buns, called kanelboller or skillingsboller in Norwegian; and chocolate marshmallow, called kokosboller. Also, they make a huge gingerbread village, Pepperkakebyen in Norwegian every Christmas “I know gingerbread house!” Rhys told us and he added that he has made it before. Salmon is also known as one of famous fish in Norway. “I love Norway salmon!” Sayaka said. Rikke also taught us that trolls are used in fairytales to scare the kids, and she showed us the photo of the troll. After that she asked us, “Do you know this song?” We stood up and danced with the song– it was from the movie Trolls! The other music R played was a Norwegian composition called Dovregubbens Hall (In the Hall of the Mountain King). R asked us to dance and move according to the music. It was fun– the music was played faster and faster!
R also asked us what animals do we think are in Norway? “A hippo” S replied. “Jellyfish?” H asked Sayaka. The answer was a reindeer and a moose. We also learnt about a special sweater called lusekofte. Today Simen was actually wearing it and his aunt knitted it for him. Lastly, she showed Norway’s national costume called Bunad. After that, R asked us what we liked about Norway presentation. H said that he likes mountains. S likes the water, and Z likes the troll because its cute! We thanked R and said goodbye to her. It was a wonderful time with her. After that we all had the chance to share what we really liked about today.

Again, thank you so much R for today. We all had a great time “visiting” Norway!
Since we requested to our teachers to play inside before lunch, we stayed inside our classroom and had indoor fun time.
By the way...we had an art activity with Kai this morning. He said that it is for tomorrow...we are wondering what we will do tomorrow…!!!
Thank you very much for today and see you all tomorrow.
Love,
