Hello, Mr. Santa!

Our winter holiday tree is up with our special cards on it. The backdrop of it is the art project that we put decorated yesterday. Nimo put on lights around our cards and TA-DA!!!! We have a beautiful winter holiday tree in Flowers! Truly, winter is in the air😊

We just could not get enough of winter so much that we talked about making something about it with our hand prints. Last Halloween, we transformed our footprints into different Halloween creatures. On this special wintertime, what could we make with our hand prints?

          Me: We can make snowflakes.

K: Snowman and white Christmas tree.

Ch: Let’s make Santa and star on top of Christmas tree.

These winter holiday things remind us to celebrate it. We may celebrate it in different ways, but we surely celebrate it with our loved ones.

          Me: We celebrate at home.

K: We celebrate it with mom, dad, siblings, pets, and family.

And speaking of our dear families, Y excitedly shared some photos of his family today. They were all awesome photos, and we are so happy that Yuto was able to talk about his family at circle time.

          Y: This is yuenchi. Play.

          Ch: What did you play?
M: Did you run and play?

          Y: Yes!

K: Did you ride on a roller coaster?

Y: Big and fast. Scary. Mommy big scary!
         Ky: Ke like roller coaster.

Y: I got toy. I play with it. Katana.

Me: Roller coaster is scary for kids. Normally, kids don’t get to ride in roller coasters.

K: Is it a real or a toy one (katana)?

          Y: Real one!
Y: (second picture) This house. Mommy game app on iPad. I did it. S, too.

As we were having a great time talking, we heard some bells. Then, a big knock. Nimo went to check who was at the door. It was SANTA!

Santa came to Flowers and talked about his home! We got more excited when he gave us some time to ask some questions. Please read on and learn all the things we were so curious to know about him.

M: Did you ride the train? I see elf at home.

Y: Cold! (when Santa said that he lived in a very cold place in the North Pole)

K: How many degrees is it over there?
A: Do you have police cars?
M: What do you have on your sleigh? Do you fly with stars and reindeer?

Ch: How many minutes to get to North Pole?

          Y: Do you like onsen?

Au: Do you like ice cream?

          Me: What do you eat?

          Ch: When were you born?
Y: Onsen, play and eat at onsen?

A very big thanks to Santa for patiently answering our questions😊 Just before he left, he said that he has got all our letters that we wrote for him. He looked at each of our letters and read it aloud. He mentioned that he would make sure that he and his elves work on the things that were written on them. Our hearts skipped for a moment when he called us for a big hug! Santa, happy holidays!

For circle time, we checked our calendar and counted how many days more until our winter holiday party. Za said, “Seven more days to go!”. Speaking of our party, Ky asked, “What if we don’t have clothes, like white and denim? Can I wear Santa hat?”.

We had some time to practice our songs for the holiday party. We really love snowflakes and we’re glad that we read a book about Snowflakes written by Cerrie Burnell and Laura Ellen Anderson. Right after the story, Y asked if he could read the question of the day which says, “Does snow melt?”.

          Kyi: What is melt?

Ch: Water magically transform into water.

K: Melt is like something is cracking or breaking but it’s not. Ice turns into water.

Ky: Ice cream melt. (becomes) Juice, like water.

Vieda took some ice cubes and let us feel them.

Y: Eat. I feel on my hand. Cold!

          Ky: Smells like water.

Za: Do we animals stuck inside the ice cubes?

M: Ice is made from water.

We took note of the time when we placed the bowl of ice cubes in the balcony. After an hour, we noticed that the ice cubes were getting smaller, and we saw some water. Ch asked if we could keep the bowl outside until we come back to school. That’s a great idea! Let’s find out what happens to it when we come to school on Monday!

 Have a great weekend, everyone!

 Love,

Flowers XOXO
