Happy Thanksgiving
Today, November 25th is a special day in the US called Thanksgiving Day! We did a little painting for our special thanksgiving art. Our teachers prepared four colors of paint, red, orange, yellow, and brown. We got to choose which color we wanted to paint our fingers and palms. We then stamped our painted hands on a white paper and set it outside to dry. We also made our snowflake art with Shelley! After our crafts we made castles with cork blocks!
We quickly packed everything away and Nimo set up the PC for zoom. We welcomed our two guest from USA, J and N. J was B’s grandma and N was B’s uncle! They joined us for zoom today to talk a little about Thanksgiving!
J: I’m making some baked ham, Turkey breast, mashed potatoes, Cheesecake, and Cranberries.
L: It’s Thanksgiving Day!
N: For thanksgiving we gather with our friends and family, and think of what you’re thankful for. Then you enjoy a feast!
J: I’m thankful I can still work and drive.
C: It’s a medium number. How old are you N?
N: I am younger than Grandma J.
T: What are you thankful for?
N: I am thankful for being healthy, and for my supportive family, and having lots of food.
A: (I’m thankful for) Mommy play with me, and eat ice cream.
L: Thank you for mama, she plays with me.
C: I’m thankful for my mommy because she buys toys for me.
B: What do you do when it’s Thanksgiving?
N: We sit around with our family and eat lots of food! I like to watch Football. There are lot of Thanksgiving Parades in the morning.
C: What time is it there?
N: It’s night time.
C: It’s 10:32 in Japan!
Grandma: What time do you have lunch?
L: 5 o’clock!
C: 12 o’clock in the morning.
A: Do you like taxis?
N: We don’t use taxis often.
A: Where do the taxis go if you don’t use them?
N: Maybe the airport, because when people do use them it’s usually for the airport.
We sang some songs with our guests and said our good-byes. Thank you very much Grandma J and Uncle N for joining us today!
After we played at the park we had a short circle time together.
C: N said Thanksgiving is all about family and make special things.
K: We meet with family.
T: And eat lots of yummy food.
L: My family!
K: I like cheese cake. Daddy’s birthday, we eat cheesecake.
N: What did Grandma J say she was making for Thanksgiving?
K: Cheese cake and beans.
C: Mashed potatoes and ham.
Y: Turkey!
After we talked and saw a picture of a turkey, Nimo gave us our hand prints and asked us to turn it into a turkey. He didn’t tell us how so we were free to use our imagination to draw our very own turkey!
We will have another Thanksgiving celebration tomorrow on zoom for anyone that would like to join us and share what they are thankful for or any stories of Thanksgiving if they have done it before! If you have some time at 10AM please feel free to join us! Also, you can bring a special treat for our snack time!
Have a lovely evening and we will see you all again tomorrow!
Love,
Flowers
