The Autumn Mood
đAutumn Themed Painting and Sensory Play đ
The autumn season is now in âfull bloomâ and we are definitely enjoying being surrounded with the beautiful colors of brown, red, orange, and yellow.
Cinnamon scented play dough, dried leaves, potpourri, and animals toys were todayâs tools that showcased our creativity and curiosity. Here are some discoveries made:
C: âIâll feed the animals with brown vegetables!â
S: âCan these (corn kernels) connect (on the eyes of an animal toy)?â; âCan this pig eat leaves?â
T: âGorilla can hang on the tree!â
J: (after smelling potpourri): âSmell good!â
Erika: âHow does it smell?â
J: âSmell like Monday!â
R added âeyesâ on her creation by pushing dried berries onto the play dough.
We also made several interesting âautumnâ characters that we are planning to use when we make our own story! Can you help us give each character a name?
On the other table, we used sliced sweet potatoes and dried leaves to stamp gold & red accents on an old cardboard painting we did last week. It was interesting to feel the âroughâ texture of the sweet potatoesâ flesh.
Laces and Beads
Lately, weâve been working on our fine motor skills through drawing. For a change, we âstrengthenedâ it by doing lacing. J enjoyed this activity and made big chunky necklaces for herself and K. She also showed Liezel how she was able to tie a knot around blocks with the lace! P on the other hand discovered that he can spin the large beads like a top!
Circle Time
Halloween was a âbigâ topic for us last week. To guide us in understanding that the event has passed, our teachers are slowly putting down decors. Erika showed us a summery video of last Fridayâs event to which we all giggled seeing ourselves in costumes!
We canât wait for you to see it!
Leaves! Leaves! Leaves! Falling off gently from the branches. To start off our morning roll call, our cue to say our names and greet everyone a âGood Morningâ was when a leaf would fall on top of our heads. All of us were mesmerized watching the slow motion of leaves falling from above. Gentle hands were needed in order to keep the dried leaves in its shape because if we donât, the leaves will get crushed and turned into bits and pieces.
After all of us have received a leaf, we were asked suggestions of other ways we can do with it. We can blow on it! We huffed and we puffed until we blew with all our might until the leaves start to lift off from the floor! That was a good lungs workout! The leaves started to gather in a pile and when we saw Erika lying flat on her stomach to blow leaves, we took the opportunity to mimic the pile of leaves by lying on top of her!
While waiting for our turn to wash our hands for snack time, we sang Elizabeth Mitchellâs version of âPeace Like A Riverâ and our teachers were surprised that most of us remember its lyrics and actions even though we often donât sing it.
Hereâs a YouTube link to the song: https://youtu.be/329t5D3ZTaw
Out to Collect Leaves
We geared up to go to the pond to gather more leaves. The pond area was bursting with the colors brown, red, and yellow! We picked up leaves of different colors and sizes⊠throwing it to the pond and watching it float.
We hope all of you are having a lovely Tuesday so far.
Love,
Buds Class Children
