The Day After

Happy Monday everyone!

Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween yesterday! Our friends had lots of stories to tell for our circle time! For our morning free play/craft time, our teachers put out the roller coaster set and set up a station to make origami pumpkins. Our roller coaster builder set was very hard to make, but we had so much fun creating and experimenting! We worked together with our friends to figure out how we could make a super fast roller coaster!

On the craft table, our teachers showed us how to fold a square piece of paper into a cute little pumpkin! We all saw lots of Jack-o-Lanterns yesterday so we didn’t have too much trouble drawing a face for them. We also used a lot of stickers to decorate our pumpkins! We also added a lot more stuff on our Fall painting!

After our snack time and park time, we read a story together. “Pumpkin Eye” by Denise Fleming was our story today. It was a book about Halloween night in rhymes. Nimo asked us to listen carefully if we could find words that rhymed.

Y: Howl and growl!

M: Bones, moans

K: Sticks and wicks

C: Pie and eye

T: Feet and street

Y (with a little help from M) read our Question of the Day, “Did you go Trick or Treating”. Before we talked about yes or no, we sang a Halloween song.

“Knock knock, trick or treat, who are you? I’m a ghost, I’m a ghost”, is the is original song, but because Halloween was yesterday so we changed “are” to “were” and “I’m” to “I was”, and then said what we dressed up as.

Nimo started and sang: I was Nimo, I was Nimo. I didn’t wear any costumes or go anywhere yesterday for Halloween.

S: I was S… Wait I forgot, I was Elsa… no Anna!

C: I was a Doctor.

T: I was T, wait… I was prince charming… No, I was the Beast!

A: Taxi!

K: I was a Swat.

M: I was a green cat with a hairband.

Y: Vampire

A: Skeleton!

Nimo: How much candy did you get?

M: Only one people gave me candy. I went to friend’s house on Halloween, My sister didn’t win in Roller Blade because the floor was too wet.

T: Lots!

A: Candy bigger than taxi!

K: I only got one.

A: More than Nimo

S: I go to M’s house, my whole family, hoikuen friends and sensei came too!

Sounds like our friends had a great time yesterday!

We finished up our day playing a copycat game. Nimo would choose one friend to do a pose and we all had to copy. It was a bit tricky to think of a pose on the fly, but we all managed it! We also played one round of our favorite game, the Banananana game!

Our next Holiday coming up is Thanksgiving. For this year’s Thanksgiving we are inviting all families to join us! More details will be up on “Events” soon!

Have a lovely evening everyone and we will see you all again tomorrow!

Love,
