Leaf Exploration Day

Good morning! It’s the 2nd day of November. During morning free playtime, we enjoyed art activities. R, K, and C did a birthday art activity with Kai. Everyone will have a special canvas to decorate it when their birthday comes. When we have our birthday, we can paint, color, or stick something to make our own canvas beautiful, and display it on the wall. With Pauline, some of us did the drawing and we enjoyed it. We also helped Sayaka to make our friend's birthday card. We use dot markers to color on the ice cream- shaped construction paper. After that we use glue to stick small squares and sparkly circles onto it.

Our teachers were thinking if we could go to Arisugawa park so we cleaned up a bit earlier. Just before snack time we all gathered together. Sayaka told us that we would go to Arisugawa to look for some leaves. Then Sayaka added that we will look for a big Autumn leaf. “How about we play a game for collecting leaves?” We nodded our heads and said, “Yes, yes!” Sayaka said that it's a very simple game. We collect some leaves, bring them to school, and count them to find out which team has the most leaves! Then Sayaka showed us three papers and they had stamps on them. It was a star, heart, and smiley face. “Who wants to be team Heart?” Sayaka asked us and L raised hands, “L!” Sayaka asked Lea to find her name on the whiteboard and she put it on the white paper as she wants to be on the Heart team. “H is this.” H pointed to the star and left her name on the white paper as well. Then other friends started choosing their team. Star team was S, H, and R. The Happy Smiley Face team was L, K, B, M, and A. Heart team was C, L, and O. Alright! We are ready for it! After we had our snack time, we headed to Arisugawa park.

When we arrived there, there were some children playing. Sayaka put three paper bags to save the leaves. “1, 2, 3 and go!” We started looking for leaves. “Look!” we excitedly said when we found leaves and we showed them to our teacher. “Oh great! Let’s put it in the bag.” our teachers told us. We had a huge space to run, explore, and play at the park. “Let’s go back to Ohana!” Our teachers reminded us that it’s time to go back. On the way back to school, Sayaka asked us, “Who is hungry?” Most of us said, “Me!” Then she asked us, “Who is tired?” We all said, “Meeeee!” H said, “I am angry!!! Haha” she had a cheeky smile on her face and our teachers also had a good laugh, too! When we got back to school, we washed our hands and came back to the circle to count the leaves. We counted them together. The result for today’s game was….The star team is the winner!!!! The Star team had 28, Happy Smiley team had 15, and Heart had 16. We said, “Good job!” to each other.

We had a wonderful day and definitely felt the Fall season today. “What would you like to do with these leaves?” Our teachers asked us. “Paint!” H shouted out. Then other friends added, “Me, too. Paint!” Our teachers nodded their heads, and said, “Okay, let’s do it.” We can’t wait to have the art activity with the leaves we found today!
