“Whose birthday is it today?”

“What are you doing?”

These are some questions Petals asked our teachers while they were preparing for today’s party. Since L just had her birthday on Sunday, H kept saying,”Today L’s birthday.” Then our teachers said, “L’s party is next time. Today is also your party, H!” After we finished our morning free play time, we had a bit of an early snack time. We need to make sure that we have enough time to get ready for today’s party. We enjoyed playing with blocks today, and we also put soil into the insect cage for the little caterpillar.

“Good morning!” We greeted our mommies and daddies through Zoom. Then we sang happy birthday songs for them in English and Japanese. Then we gave our special birthday card to them. We can’t finish our party without having a birthday cake. The paper cupcake baked at the Ohana factory just arrived. They had it in front of them and they blew the candles! Yaaaaay!

We had a story time with C’s mommy(A) and daddy(C). The title was, ROXY the Last Unisauraurus Rex, written by Eva Chan and illustrated by Matthew Rivera. It was C's favorite book. In the beginning of the story, nobody wanted to play with Rex because she was very different from others. But in the end, she found a nice friend who was a Dinocorn who had a horn and was vegan. The book told us that it’s okay to be unique and we should appreciate each other. Then we did the balloon race game. R’s mommy (A) prepared the game for us. The rule was to keep the balloon between their legs. It was a super fun game. Last activity was another storytime with H’s mom (R) The book was こんとあき 林明子作- It was about Amy and Ken visiting Grandma. It was a very popular Japanese picture book and H’s favorite book. Aki(Amy) and her toy fox Konn(Ken), travel by train to visit grandmother. While they were heading there, Konn(Ken) got all torn up. Aki(Amy) was so sad but when they saw the grandmother, she helped fix Konn(Ken) . It was a cute story! Then, Pauline told us that we will have goodies bags! Thank you very much R’s mom(F) and M’s mom(L). It was a wonderful birthday party. Again, thank you very much, A, C, R, K, A, K, F, T, L, and B for coming to our party!

After we finished our party, we had the “Goodies ceremony” and headed to the temple. Thank you very much for the wonderful and special day. See you all tomorrow!

Love,

All the happy children in Petals Class
