Runaway with the waves
Good day! It’s another beautiful Monday! Our friends came with a fantastic smile and were ready for a fun day at Ohana. Doing our morning jobs is always a good thing because we get to feel more responsible and be proud of what we can do with little help from our teachers. So far, these little responsibilities we have in our classroom can teach us many things about ourselves.
Floor Activities
There were sea animal toys on the floor together with the balance beams. This activity felt like the big round ocean where ocean animals were swimming around. We’re slowly, slowly getting more familiar with the names of these creatures. We also used the dollhouse and put the animal toys there. One of our friends also mentioned that they also have these toys at home. We’re pretty happy that everyone is making that connection and it makes their stay at Ohana more at home and secure.
Table activities
We had black construction paper cut-outs that Tamara did last week for us. Thank you, Tamara for this excellent preparation. This activity helped us discover the texture if we used glue mixed up with sequins and glitters. The texture was unique, but its effect in the cut-out made it more stunning and exciting at the same time.
The second table had our previous painting from last week. It was nice to revisit our pictures and add something on them. We have been very engaged in adding the used plastic straw strings that we shredded.
Circle time
After our free play time, we gathered in our circle and started singing our songs with our friends. Today was a fun day and everyone was in an excellent mood for dancing. We told our friends with a loud voice, “Let’s dance together!” and we did just that. John brought out the long blue cloth and he ran around the classroom. We ran after it and heard the ocean waves in the background. We enjoyed running with the ocean waves. We even went under the waves and felt the texture of the cloth on our faces and bodies. Then, we got our egg shakers from the music box. We started singing, “C’mon shake it, shake it, shaking is fun to do!” We also listened to the music and when it stopped, we all stopped. This synchronized activity helped us practice our coordination and rhythmic skills with the instruments. In the end, it was a fun music time with our friends and teachers.
Balcony time
Our friends always like to explore the balcony and play with the blocks. Being outside and having fresh air gave us a pleasant experience all the time.
Storytime
The Very Clever Crocodile by Jack Tickle
It is a pop-up book about various animals that we could find in the jungle. We learned about the water buffalo, pelican, flamingo, piranha, chameleon, warthog and many more.
Park time
It’s perfect weather outside so we couldn’t miss spending more time playing and running around with our friends in the green area. It was also quite warm, and our friends came back to Ohana full of sweat. We had a good lunch and a good sleep during our nap time.
Thank you so much for a great day. See you all again tomorrow.
Lots of love,
All the children from Buds class
