Welcome back from our Fall Break

What a great day and it was a lovely fall break for everybody in Buds class. Hope that everyone had a fantastic time with your families. For the teachers, of course, we had a fabulous break that some of us went out to the mountains and enjoyed the scenery and nature around us. It is indeed that we are lucky to see these marvelous things.

In the morning, we did our jobs accordingly and it's good that our friends were so consistent in what we could do with our routines. The next thing we noticed were the activities on the tables.

Table Activities

Playdough is always our favorite thing to do in the classroom. First, we took some plastic cookie cutters and rolling pins that Liezel prepared for all of us. We practiced holding the rolling pin on both ends and then pushing and rolling it forward to flatten the dough. Some of us just used our fingers and pressed the dough with our palms as hard as possible. Then, it became little pizza or cookie or whatever we could think of it. One trick that we also love doing with the playdough is making a ball out of it. We then took some Lego trucks/trains and started working on the same table. Some of us even connected the Lego trains and then put some playdough on the carriage. It looked like the train was about to deliver excellent goods around Buds town. We also tried flattening the dough using the wheels of the trains and it made some lovely patterns around it. Playdough is always a great tool for creating and making something out of our imagination. We enjoyed doing this with our friends.

Floor Activities

On the floor, we found some puzzle pieces and blocks. We could create the town by putting the map (jigsaw puzzles) out first and then followed by various building blocks that represented the different buildings around the town. It was fantastic to know these places such as markets, hospitals and many more and hopefully, we could learn more about them with our neighborhood. We also had some finger puppets on the floor and we all just swarmed and took our finger puppets, then showed them to our friends and teachers.

Circle Time

It's time to move! Our gathering time was all about moving and singing around the classroom. It's always fabulous to see our friends confidently showcase their talents and follow the dance moves that our teachers showed to us. Our first routine was walking, running, jumping and stopping. With the ukulele being played in the background and our teachers' voices were heard, we enjoyed dancing and experimenting with our bodies and spatial awareness. Then, we sang "Shake our sillies out," and our teachers asked our friends what actions we could do with the song, so some of us suggested that we could "shake our hands," "touch our knees and toes," "pat our heads," "shake our knees" and "turn around". Wow! This is such a fantastic opportunity for all of us to express our actions in words. Well done, Buds friends!

After the fun music and dancing, we all sat down and did a finger play. We call it "Abracadabra fingers." It's about showing how many fingers we have and what animals we could do using each finger. For example, one finger can be a caterpillar, two fingers can be bunny ears, three fingers can be the cat's whiskers, four fingers can be the dog's paws, and the five fingers can be the bees around the beehive. We sang our good morning song and learned about our friends' names. Lastly, we took out our stuffed toy bear and asked our friends to show their gentle hands while playing with him. We sang the "Teddy Bear" song and our teachers showed us how to play nicely with him. We gave him a big hug and while he was sleeping, we stroked his head gently and calmly so that he wouldn't wake up during his nap time. You know what, we are also having our nap time at school just like our friend Teddy.

Park time

We went outside and were excited to see the green area with our friends and teachers again. Our newly pumped-up balls were all bouncing and it was great that our friends were learning to dribble with our hands and feet. On the way to the park, we also noticed some dried leaves on the road, and we loved the sound of the rustling leaves. The weather is changing, and the trees are changing too.

Storytime

We also read two books about the bear called "We're going on a bear hunt" and some tigers called "If you go walking in Tiger woods". These are our favorite books in the classroom that our friends always requested today.

Thank you so much, Ohana and see you all again tomorrow.

Lots of love,

All the children from Buds class
