Counting Down 'Till the Halloween Party!
Good morning friends and teachers! When we arrived in class, it was dark outside and raining. Some of us had rain boots or rain jackets. For free play time, we had building blocks and toy doctor kits at the back of the classroom. Some of them did drawing with Kai. We always enjoy drawing so we asked him if we could do more and more. At the other table was a “squeezing” experiment table. Some of us helped Sayaka to make agar jello yesterday. We mixed water and agar powder, and added some food coloring. We also put the toy spiders and the eyeballs because it’s almost Halloween! Then Sayaka kept them in the refrigerator so they could harden. So today, they’re ready for us to play with. We enjoyed touching, feeling, squeezing, and looking at it. We asked Kai and Pauline if we could use a toy knife and fork to cut the agar jello. It was soft and cold and the texture was very interesting. It was a nice sensory activity for us.
Circle Time
After we cleaned up our toys, we all gathered for today’s circle time. We sang our morning greeting song. Then Sayaka started today’s circle time by asking this question. “Do you know what we will do this coming Friday? This Friday is a very special day for us. Hmm...What is it..? We were thinking and thinking but we were not sure of the answer. Then Sayaka asked if we would have our Chiristmas party. We shook our heads and said, “Noooo.” She gave us a clue and it was… “Friday is a party day and it starts with H...H...H..” Then H and L said, “Halloween!” Yes, yes! This Friday is our Hallowen party. Sayaka explained our Halloween party briefly because Pauline and Kai will also tell us more about it. Sayaka told us about one of the activities we will do. She said that we are going to make a monster headband. She also showed us her headband that she made, and it was a purple triangle monster- It has lots of dots and eyes. For Halloween day, she would like to know what color and shape of monster we would like to make so she can prepare for us! We are also excited for the other fun activities we will have with Pauline and Kai.

Since we have Halloween, we have been learning and using these word: “Spooky”, “Scary”, “I’m scared”, “Boo!” Sayaka asked us if we could make scary faces. “Roarrrrrrr!!!” We pretended to be a scary lion, monster, ghost, or dinosaur. Then she said, “How about...if you are scared, how would you show it?” Sayaka covered her face with her hands and said, “I’m scared…!” We also said, “Scared!” and hid our faces behind our hands. Sayaka asked us the last question, “Who is going to be a scary person for Halloween?” L raised her hand, “L scary. Scary lion!” We started showing Sayaka that we can also scare her. “Rawwwwrrr!” “Arrrrggghhh!” Sayaka laughed and said, “Hahaha! Okay, let’s get ready for snack time!”
Lucky us! Mr. Sunshine started coming out, so we could have a time to play outside. Since it was raining this morning, we decided to go to the temple. We thought that the green area might be very wet today.
3 days left until the Halloween Party! Thank you very much for today and see you all tomorrow.
Love,
All the happy children in Petals Class
