Sniff! Sniff!

That’s what we did during circle time– but first, we reviewed on the 5 senses.

“What did we first talk about?” our teachers asked.

“Touch,” K replied.

“And what did we do with Sayaka?”

“Taste!” H said.

“And with Kai… and Sayaka, too?”

“Listening ears!” S said.

“So today, we’re going to use our nose!” Pauline said. “Let’s look with our nose,” she said.

“Noooooo!” We said while laughing.

“Okay, let’s listen with our nose!” she said.

“Nooooooo!” We giggled.

“Smell– let’s smell with our nose!” K said. He was right. Pauline had another magic bag– we tried to smell what was inside.

“Mmm.. It smells good!” K said. Most of our friends liked it, and there were a few that didn’t like it.

“Do you know what it is?” Pauline asked.

“Tissue paper!” Z answered. Close– it was tissue paper sprayed with perfume! The smell was very flowery.

Next item had some of our noses wrinkling– it had a fishy smell.

“Stinky!” H said. It was dried squid! We had seen Pauline sometimes eat dried squid.

The last item had a minty smell. Some made a face while smelling it, and some said “Mmmm..” Do you know what it was? It was bug spray!

Our teachers then asked us which smell did we like the best.

“The bug spray,” S replied.

“Bug spray,” L said.

“Perfume,” Z said.

“Dried squid,” K said.

“I like the bug spray,” H said.

“The bug spray,” N said.

“Squid,” D said.

“Mushi spray,” M answered.

“Mushi no spray,” S said.

“I like the bug spray,” R said.

“Bug spray,” Z said.

“Me, too. Bug spray,” K said.

“Squid,” A said.

“Squid,” A agreed.

“Dried squid,” K said, too.

It was interesting to see how divided most of the class was between bug spray and dried squid!

Pauline prepared other things for smelling like cinnamon, her pasta lunch, and D’s sunscreen (We always hear the teachers say it smells good!), but maybe we can do it next time.

We had our snacks, and after that—

“Park?” K asked. But the teachers said the rain was on and off– they weren't sure if when the heavy rain would fall, so we can’t go to the park. Instead, we practiced for Sports Day, and tamaire might be one of the games we would play!

Pauline broke us off into two teams, and explained that each team should get as many balls as they can within the time limit. When the teachers put the balls on the floor, we were really excited! We had Team Basket (because they need to fill up their big basket), and Team Box (Because they had to fill up a big box).

“On your mark… get set… GO!” Pauline said. We scrambled across the floor to get as many plastic balls as we can!

For the first round, Team Basket had 23, and Team Box had 21. We tried to figure out which number was the biggest– 2 and 2 were the same. But 3 was bigger than 1 so…. It means 23 is the bigger number, and Team Basket wins!

The second round had Team Box with 23, and Team Basket with 21. We already know that 23 is the bigger number so it meant that Team Box was the winner!

We all cheered because the teachers declared that EVERYONE was the winner! YAY!!!!

“But what if we’re not the winner?” Pauline asked. “Can we just cry and get angry with our friends and say, ‘Noooo! I want to be the winner!’?”

“No,” We replied.

“It’s not nice,” S said. Instead, our teachers suggested we can congratulate the other team and tell them, “Good job!” that’s what we did– Team Box and Team Basket told each other, “Good job!”

Aside from that, our free play time was interesting, too. We finished puzzles with Kai, and we made playdough (YAY!) with Sayaka. We also have a new friend in Petals Class– M! We welcomed her and played with her in the morning.

We had lunch after our Sports Day practice, and then quiet time. Most of us fell asleep to the sound of the rain playing over our speakers….

Love,

All the happy bunnies in Petals Class
