The Tasting Activity
The Tasting Activity
What body part do you use to taste?
Sayaka asked us, “Fingers to taste?”
We said, “Noooooo.” and shook our heads.
K shouted out, “Mouth!”
She said, “Yes, mouth!” and then asked us to stick out our tongue.
We enjoyed today’s activity for circle time.
Good morning! We finished our morning jobs and started our morning fun. For today, we had an interesting sensory art activity on the table. Our teacher put red, yellow, and brown paint in the big plastic sheet, So, we spread the colors, and felt the paint over the plastic sheet. It was a very nice activity. At the back of classroom, we had one of favorite toys….It was small Lego blocks! We love it.
After we packed away, we realized that Sayaka had our snack boxes so we thought that we will have snack time soon. But, it seemed like….it’s not snack time yet. After we gathered all together in the circle, we sang our morning greeting song. She started today’s circle time by asking this question, “What body part do you use to taste?” Ko shouted out that we use tongue to taste and we stuck out our tongue. I don’t know why but looking at them and they were all sticking out their tongue made us laugh! “Ahahahahha!” We laughed and laughed. Then she showed a book called, “The Five Senses: Taste by Maria Rius, J. M. Parramon ,J.J. Puig”.
In the book, there were some pictures and they introduced the taste: sweet, sour, salty, delicious, and terrible. “I like milk, orange, apple, juice.” S said. Z added that he likes different kinds of milk. H told us that he likes extra sweet food.” K said that when he ate meat, he tasted shoyu (soy source) flavor.
It’s time to use our tongue now! Sayaka explained what we were going to do. She showed us her snacks to taste. She closed eyes and tasted it. One was dried mango and the other was a slice of lemon. When she tasted mango, she said, “Oh, it’s sweet and I like it.” But, when she tried the lemon, she said, “Wow, its sooo sour!” She asked us who would like to start first. Z raised his hand. He closed his eyes and Sayaka showed us what he was going to taste. It was orange.
Z: Sweet, I like it.” He also said that its orange.
K had popcorn and said, “I don’t know (the taste of) Popcorn.”
A had cheese- flavored snack and said, “Maybe snack..?”
H said, “Carrots...um...Sweet.”
K tasted rice cracker and said, “Nori (taste)”
E had a slice of lemon, “Oh sour! I have lemon.”
S tasted a strawberry and said, “It’s a strawberry.”
K took one of fruits and said, “Umm...Yummy!”
Z had a piece of orange and said, “Ah….yes! (Sayaka asked if she likes it.)
L had a grape and said, “Oishii orange?”
It was a very fun activity and after that we wanted to eat more so had snack time.
At the park we ran a lot. It was also great practice for our sports day. We all told our teachers, “We can ran so fast.” “I’m the fastest!”
Thank you for today and see you all tomorrow.
Love,
Happy Petals 2020-2021
