We are Pastry Chefs
It was an another beautiful day and we feel summer is almost coming soon. After we said good-bye to mom and dad, we energetically entered Buds classroom. Erika was near the door to assist us in hanging our backpacks while Chiaki supervised our handwashing. After we hang our backpacks on the wall, it was a time to play with friends and teachers with different toys.
On the table, we continued to play with playdough. We got our own playdough bags labelled with our names and set it up on the container. We used rolling pins and made the playdough flat like just like a cookie. Some were busy scooping and pretended that it was ice cream.
On the art table, there was a paper apron, small sponges and red, blue and yellow paints. First we tapped the paint to the cut-out apron to make it colourful by using sponges. While we dabbed the different colours on the paper apron, we realized the colours were starting to change… just like magic! It was amazing to see different colors popping out just by mixing these three primary colors.
Play huts were set up inside the class which we excited crawled through it. We played play hide and seek with friends, read our favourite books and made our own library there. There were some beanbags on the floor too and we discovered many ways to play with it. First, a teacher showed that she can put it on her head. We also put it on our head yet, it fell on the floor. So, instead of put the beanbag on our head, we helped the teacher to put it on her head. Next, John stayed one side of the play hut and we stayed at other side of the play hut and tried to throw and catch the beanbags. We thought it was easy to throw the beanbags over the play hut, yet, when we started to threw it, we realized it was a little challenging. So, we used the whole arm to throw the beanbag, the beanbags were finally reach to John. It was a very fun activity and even though we were actually inside of the classroom, we felt we were at the park. At the library area, we checked about our body and found that everyone has moles but different areas and the number we have moles are different. The new discover of our body is a good start for our next week theme because we are going to talk about diversity and it is okay to be different.
Before we had a circle time, John played his guitar and had a music session. He played “Love is something if you give it away”, “Baby shark”, and “Smile song” for us and we danced and jump up high with his wonderful music.
After the music session, we brought our own chair and set it up for our circle time. First, we sang “Morning Song” and checked name card to see who is here today. Next, Chiaki said that we are going to pretend to make a pancake today because we have been talking about chef this week. Before we began to make a pancake, Chiaki asked what do we like to put on the pancake. We said, we like to put honey, maple syrup, whip cream and ice cream on the pancake. Just imagine that, we felt very hungry and ready to make a pancake. First, Chiaki and one of friends poured flour into a bowl and added some water. Then, everyone had a chance to mixed them up with a spoon. When Chiaki pored it to a pan, it changed to a sponge pancake. We thought we can now eat our special pancake, but Chiaki said we need to flip the pancake over to the other side. She showed how to flip the pancake with the pan and then, she called one by one and flipped the pancake without dropping to the floor. After everyone had a turn, it was a time to eat our special pancake. We said, “Itadakimasu” and pretended to eat the pancake together. Before pick up time, we played with Lego blocks and made a high tower cooperatively and had a story time.
Have a wonderful day! Love, Buds Class
