Happy in Our Skin
June 2nd 2020
Happy in Our Skin. This is the book we had for our circle time.
We are happy for who we are.
We are happy for what we have.
We are happy for our community.
We are happy to see people care, understand ,and respect each other…
Morning Fun
Good morning! Its been a while we played with toy animals since we had the stay home time so, we were very excited to play with it. “Look at this! Lots of animals.” “I have a big zoo here!” in the library, Nimo had story time for us and we enjoyed it a lot. Thank you Nimo! With Sayaka, some of us had art activity. We traced our hand and colored with crayon. We a had fun conversation about our skin color. We have different color and ideas about our skin color...its interesting!
Circle time
Sayaka asked us what we learnt yesterday with Pauline. We told her when we have more colors, it becomes beautiful. C mentioned that he liked the one color drawing and more colors drawing. Then K said that he liked lot of colors in the rainbow. A agreed what Ko said. Then Sayaka asked us about our skin colors. We looked at our hands…N said, “Blue.” and pointed at veins in har arm. Ak said, “I have black.” Then Sayaka showed some of our art works from the morning activity. Ak used black to color his skin. A used white for her skin color. Ak asked H, do you have white skin? Then she replied to him, “No, my skin is peach color. Even though we used the same colors for drawing our arms, all of the artworks looked different. Then Sayaka showed one of books from our library called Happy in Our Skin by Fran Manushkin, illustrated by Lauren Tobia. The book told us that we should be happy for our skin and uniqueness. It explains how skin is different but that is what makes us and people around us such as friends and families, unique. It was a great book!
After that Sayaka asked us if we know how many days we have until we say goodbye to Petals class. We needed to take a little while to answer the question. So, we used our calendar to count and it was only 18 days left until the last day in Petals class. We tried our best to write 18 on the white board. After that She told us that most of us will move up to Flowers class, some of us going to go different schools, and a few friends will stay in Petals. We definitely will miss the days we spent together. But it’s great that we still have some time to enjoy and have fun all together! Just before we go back home, we played with the special drums and we loved it!
Thank you very much for today and see you tomorrow!
Love,
Happy Petals 2020
