First day of Summer School

Good morning! Today, we would like to welcome our new friend, L to Buds Class. She is such a wonderful addition to our class and we’re looking forward to have more learning moments with her this summer and for our next school year.  As we started our day, our friends got really excited for our summer school program. We noticed that  we have less friends who came today and that’s because our former friends went for a holiday now. Even with a smaller number, we still had a great time playing and exploring many things with everyone.

Table Activities

On our tables, we’ve got some pegs and button straps that we can play with. First, we tried to connect all the pegs together but our teachers told us that we could actually use the peg boards that we could attach them to.

Drawing activity

Since that we love drawing so much, our  teachers prepared big pieces of construction paper and some crayons that we could use for coloring. Our friends were so fascinating because they were able to create human figures and explained the illustrations to our teachers. They explained that they made a portrait of their mom and dad.

Books from the library

We love looking  at our books and especially our life books. This gives more time and familiarity with what we have at school. We adored looking at the animal books too. It was nice to have them at school.

Gym class with Tsurumi-sensei

Today, we’re also very glad to see Tsurumi-sensei because  we loved to move and explore some movements that we could do with our friends and teachers.

For warm-up exercises, we did  some stretching and jumping around the classroom. We also had to run from one spot to another and we had to do it as fast as we could.

We also played with colorful balls and he asked to throw it up and down, forward and back. It  was fun to do and especially when we tried throwing it at the wall and then it bounced back on us.

Next, we put out the sliding cushion and this time, we used the slide and ran around the room to complete the obstacle course.

We said goodbye to our Tsurumi-sensei and we’ll see him again next week!

For our circle time, we talked about the animals. Our topic for today was about a cheetah. We were asked by our teachers what we do know about cheetahs. One of our friends said that they have spots on their skin and they are different from tigers because tigers have stripes around their bodies.

We also talked about what they hunt food for survival and sometimes they succeed or fail in their attempts to get them. Lastly, we learned more about animal names and what they can do. They can jump, dance, run, and many more fun things that we  can think of.

Thank you so much Ohana for another beautiful day and hope to see you again tomorrow.

Lots of love,

All the children from Buds Class
