Leaves and Camouflage
Today we spent a lot of time looking at leaves and trying to find animals in the jungle. We started by examining the different shape of leaves and how they cluster together on a branch before heading out to the park. On the way to the park we found heat shaped, toothed and lobed leaf. While we were in the jungle of Arisugawa park we went around a collect more types of leaves. Before we put the leaves in the bag we told Kai what type of leaves they were.
At the park we found rolly pollies and earthworms on the ground, ran around and played camouflage. Camouflage is a hiking game, one person can say “camouflage” and count to ten slowly. While he/she is counting, the other people must go hide to where they can’t be seen. After the counting is over the person that counted needs to stay in the position and spot the others. If he/she can spot the others then they’re out. Once he/ she can’t spot them anymore they can start counting to 10 again. This time the hidden players must run and touch the person counting before they get to 0. It was an exciting game.
After we got back from the jungle we compared our leaves to the paper. We found all the shapes and half of the groupings. Continuing on what we talked about yesterday we looked at animals with camouflages. Some were really hard to find.
Can you find this one?
Hint: It’s a lizard.
After understanding more about what’s in the jungle we made more creatures and leaves for our jungle. It was another adventurous day in the jungle of Flowers Class. Hope you had a wonder day!
Love,
Flowers Class
