Our Earth
Love was everywhere this morning. It started with giving our teachers chocolate for teacher appreciation week. We also made something delicious for Valentine’s day tomorrow. If you came in for drop off you would of smelt It but it’ll be a surprise so we can only share the picture of what it’s made out of. We also built the boxes and added tissue paper in the box for packaging. Our other activity was to finish up our Valentine’s day cards.
What is Valentine’s Day?
Ja– Give lots of cards and cookies to everyone.
A– We give flowers.
L– We give chocolates.
After the activities we sat quietly on the carpet because we didn’t have any books to read. We contemplated why we didn’t have books and thought how we really missed them. How can we respect our books?
Sh– Put the books this way. (straight hands)
Ry– Use gentle hands.
A– Don’t step on our books.
An– We can respect by being very very gentle and never never break the book.
So– If you break the book, you can put a tape on it.
Those are all great thoughts and we hope to be able to have our books back on Monday.
Something special was delivered to our class today! We had to remember all the way back to December. We made and sent out Christmas cards to lots of people and we received a reply. It came from Utatsu Jr. High and Togura elementary in Tohoku. Some were written in Japanese and others in English. We looked at only a few cards. They we’re very nicely decorated and told us what they wanted for Christmas and what they wanted to be when they grew up. One of the card said, “I want to be a carpenter.” and another one said, “I want to be a truck driver.” It’s amazing having pen pals across Japan.
Dance Class
We finally had dance class with Maryna, it’s been too long! We danced to “What’s the weather”, “If you’re happy”, “Seal”, “Mosquito”, “Ride a bike”, “Tooti ta” and “Paprika”. Wow there was a lot of dancing! We also had a new exercise. We had to use our “good toes” to lift our legs in front of us swing it around to the back. That was hard Maryna!
Last week we’ve kept working on our Earth and today we’re going to do something with it. First, we thought about what we’re doing to our planet.
Ry– Bad things, cutting down the trees
Mo– Catching whales
Yu– Throwing plastic to the ocean.
Ke– The Earth will not like it.
Ry- It will be filled up with trash.
Then Kai took the Earth cut it open, passed it around so we can admire our creation. After we all looked at it He filled the Earth up with trash.
Kai– How can we help our Earth?
Ke– Everyone can play nicely. Put it on the garbage bin.
Wi– We can maybe not do bad things. Take all the plastic and put it in the submarine. Make more water inside the Earth it will float.
Yu– We can recycle the plastic and don’t do bad things to help the Earth.
Kai– That’s a good idea. If we recycle we still have the same about of trash in the Earth. What else can we do?
Ry– You can make a bad and throw trash inside and you keep it. (Throw it inside another bag and not in our “earth”)
An– We can put the trash in the rocket and take the trash somewhere else. We can cut the rope to save the whale. When the red planet comes we can save it.
We don’t know how to save the Earth yet but we know that we didn’t like using the Earth as our trash can. Someone even said that Kai is terrible for having us throw trash in the Earth. We’ll have to think harder about how to limit our trash on Earth. Do you have any ideas? Please tell us so we can limit the trash we put in our “Earth”
XOXO,
