United Kingdom Day
It is always nice to learn different culture.
Because we feel like we are traveling the world.
Today, we traveled the United Kingdom
We learned about the country and had a special art time!
<Making a tree>
Last week, John talked about tree and we enjoyed making a tree out of cut out paper. So that teachers prepared huge cut out tree and decided to make Buds special tree which we can display on the wall and show it to everyone. Today, Erika was at the art table and helped us to make branches with newspaper. She gave a piece of newspaper and we tried to twist the newspaper as much as we could. Then, Erika gave us tapes and we stuck the branches on the big cut out tree.
<Making a Globe>
The other table was busy ripping the newspaper to make the globe with John for the international month. John passed a large piece of newspaper for us so that we were able to use whole arms to rip the newspaper which helped our fine motor skill as well, Hi and No spent a lot of time at the table and ripped the newspaper as much they could.
<International month: the United Kingdom>
We cleaned up all the toys and when teachers starred to sing, “Make a circle”, we gathered at the carpet area and made a beautiful circle by ourselves! Meanwhile, Laura (Alexa’s mom) and Harry (Raphael’s dad) came to our classroom for the UK day!
First, Harry asked where England is and we had no idea where it is. So, Harry showed the world map and pointed out England and also Japan. Harry said England and Japan is very far that we need to take an airplane to go to England. Harry also mentioned one special thing about England is England has King and Queen and Laura showed a Queen’s crown and a cape. Then, she read a book called, Queen’s Knickers written by Nicholas Allan. The book was really fun to listen and see the pictures because the Queen has variety of knickers for different purposes! After the book time, we had England themed art time. Yesterday, we made hand print Queen and today, we decorated the Queen by sticking different kind of stickers.
We are very thankful Laura and Harry to take your time to come to Buds class and introduce the United Kingdom today.
<Howard the Dog>
After the international month, we gathered at the carpet area for small circle time. When we sat on the carpet, Chiaki showed an animal but could not see his face.
Chiaki: “Look, he is my friend! Can you guess what animals is? He says, Bow-wow!”
Si: “Dog! It’s a dog!”
Za: “Wolf!”
Al: “Dog (with tablet)”
Chiaki finally showed the animal face and it was a dog. She said his name is Howard and he lives Buds class. She also said Howard is very hungry now so we gave some foods to Howard to practice how to take care of animal.
<Park Time>
Today was such a nice weather so that we went to the park for a long time. Al, Ri were busy sliding down the slide and Mar helped to push Si to swing higher and higher.
Have a nice day!
Love,
Buds Class
