Moving objects and bodies in motion
Happy birthday, Shelley!
Happy birthday, Shelley!
Happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to you!
You heard that right! It’s Shelley’s birthday today! It was nice to celebrate someone’s birthday in Buds classroom and we believe that last October 3, it was L’s birthday too. She is now 2 years old. With the October celebrants, we sang our happy birthday song and they couldn’t hide their excitement. We sang our heart out and what a lovely sight to see how we all enjoyed singing together as a family.
Persimmon Tree
Shelley kindly helped us in making the persimmon tree trunk. We used the clothing stand for the base and wrapped it with newspaper. It was not so difficult to make but it took a little longer to complete because we really had to make sure that everything was covered and ready for painting tomorrow.
Mr. Potato Head
On the other side of the table, we had Mr. Potato Head and it was quite an adventure on how we mixed and created something hilarious with the toy. It’s not just about being silly but rather it was also about being explorative with our hands. We truly enjoyed playing with this one today.
Painting with cars and Lego trains
The cars were also at the table and we had trays of paint that we could use and dip the cars in. Then, we slowly moved the painted cars around the canvas and it started to create amazing patterns around. There were squiggly lines and some blobs of paint. We even got so creative and used our hands. We’ve covered our entire hands with paint, mixed all the colors and felt the texture. Again, our friends really thrive on sensory learning experience in the classroom. Great thing, we have activities prepared just for them.
Tsurumi-sensei and our gym practice
Tsurumi-sensei came to our class and we were all glad to see him again. We did the usual warm-up exercises and some animal actions (which, by the way, is our favorite) and then practiced the racing game. But the highlight of our class was playing “Tamaire”. We really enjoyed throwing the balls in the basket! We’re great shooters!
Obstacle Course (Tactile Path and Tunnel)
After our snack time, we put the tactile path and tunnel on the floor. This really made our day because we just wanted to move and move and make our bodies in motion as much as we could.
Circle time
Our circle time today was quite interesting because we talked about the things that can move. First, John showed us two small balls and he juggled them both while we were singing, “Up and down and around and around”. We were fascinated because we also wanted to try it. The next object he showed us was a toy windmill, he used his finger to turn the propeller and all of us were awestruck by the sight of it. The third one was using stretchable train. When we stretch the train and leave it on the floor, it then moves towards one direction. It had mechanical wheels and we all had a chance to stretch and move on the floor as well. Lastly, the big bouncy ball…we tried bouncing at lower height and then slowly, slowly, we tried making it higher and higher and when we dropped our ball, it made a huge bounce! Woah!
We copied the motion and used our bodies. In this photo, Tamara was trying to be a windmill so she spun around and around but ooppssss...she got a bit dizzy for a moment there!
I’ll Wait Mr. Panda by Steve Antony
Erika was so kind to read one of our favorite books in the library. The book taught us how to wait patiently for our turn. Thank you so much and have a great day!
Again, we would like to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY Shelley and L! We love you always!
Lots of love,
Buds Class Children
