Dominik's Mum visited class and we had fun learning about diving
23 September – Daily Journal
It was a lovely sunny day and so lovely to see many Dads drop off or pick up their children today.
As we are talking about our families a lot this week, we had the life books out on the table (as opposed to easily reachable on the shelf) and Buds were curious to look at their friend’s families.
We had Spiderman, a princess, Peter Pan and Barney in class this morning, very proud of themselves. We also put our body puzzle on the table and Buds did it in pairs.
Buds did some more painting today. We are learning the circle shape so we did some beautiful pictures stamping circles with paint, using toilet roll cylinders and lids. Our sensory table was full of flour today. It was so soft on our fingers and fun to spoon into cups and containers, again and again.
Today we had a special guest in the classroom. Hhmm, who is this wondered some Bud friends. “Momma” said Dominik. Dominik’s mum, Eriko came into Buds class today at circle time to talk to us about diving. First Eriko showed us a beautiful photo of the ocean filled with lots of different colored fish, sharks, ray’s and herself diving. She also had a large world map so that we could see where Japan is and places Eriko likes to dive; Okinawa, the Maldives and Australia. The blue areas
are the ocean so we could see there are lots of places to swim and dive. We wondered what she wears when in the water so Eriko showed us all her diving gear and then we took turns to put on the goggles and flippers and try out the snorkel. We pretended to swim in the ocean and discover lots of fish, taking turnings looking at the beautiful book full of fish and ocean creatures. It was so much fun. And to top it off, Eriko gave all our Buds a special ocean creatures snack. Yum, everyone loved it and might not have
eaten as much of their snack today. Thank you Eriko!
In story time today we read ‘There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly’. Buds loved seeing which animal was coming next. The old lady was getting bigger and bigger! We also read ‘We’re Going on a bear Hunt’ and Buds were really immersed in the story. We will have to go on a bear hunt at the park soon.
Don’t our Buds look so good in their Ohana smocks! We are so proud of our Buds as they all hold the rope walking to the park. And everyone keeps their hats on too.
