Lets measure using centimeters
We started off our morning with our ‘All About Me’ sheets. Yesterday we did our names and ages and so today we wrote in our height when we were born and our current heights in centimeters. It was good practice for writing numbers and we did a great job with this. On the table next to the all about me sheets we saw there were lots of new stencils with animals and dinosaurs.
We enjoy using stencils and it was a great way to draw lots of animals and we could us colored markers, pencils and sparkly pens to make them look special. Tokutaro and Jessica decided they wanted to do the measuring exercise with tape and rulers. First we chose a colored piece of paper and wrote our names on the top. Then we chose different colored tape and stuck different length strips on the paper. Using a ruler we measured all of the pieces with the ruler and then wrote the appropriate numbers on the paper next to the tape.
It was great using centimeters to measure carefully. The memory game in the carpet area was also very popular this morning. For this they need to take turns and lift two covered pictures. If the pieces don’t match they need to replace the covers.
If the two pieces do match they win the two covers and continue until all the pieces are uncovered. The player with the most covers wins the game. In circle time we again did a little measuring with a long tape measure. We measured lots of things including hand size, foot size, length of legs, length of arms and even how far from their friends they were sitting. In the park we measured the slide which was a massive 400 centimeters as well as the monkey bars. Unfortunately, Tokutaro took a tumble today and we wish him all the best.
When we got back to the class we all played a game where we used a blindfold to cover our eyes. Our friends then came to sit in front of us and using only our hands we had to gently touch our friends hair and faces to see if we could guess who was sitting in front of us without using our eyes.
This was a lot of fun and we had lots of correct guesses and a few incorrect ones too. Have a great afternoon.
