Bali Lions and Elephants

We decided to make a nice ‘get well soon’ card for our friend Noa today as she fell and hurt her leg yesterday and all her friends miss having her around. Her friends were so sad to see the picture of Noa with her leg all bandaged up. Get well soon Noa, we all love you.  DSCF8805On the main table today we were all excited to see the big red light-box set up with the frame around the sides. When we looked inside there was a lot of blue colored sand. We could use our fingers and make lots of squiggly patterns or even write our names with our pointer fingers too. Eito, Nile and Riko all found this great fun. DSCF8810On the main carpet the teachers had put out the dress up costumes and hats to play with and we really enjoyed trying on the pirate, Peter Pan, and sparkly cowboy hats. Ava dressed up like a firefighter and Tokutaro soon dressed up like a knight with a shield and cape. On the second table Nile and Riko decided they wanted to try some of the Montessori number activities and number puzzles. This involved looking at the written number and then counting the objects on the corresponding cards. It took us a while but we managed to do all the numbers from 1 to 10.After tidying away the toys we all sat in a circle and soon Sidney the Skeleton came to join us and show us all about his leg bones and how we need to be very gentle and careful with our friends as it makes everyone sad when we get hurt. DSCF8815Then it was time for Eito’s show and tell. DSCF8817He looked so happy showing all his friends his two photos from Bali.  The first one showed Eito with his brother and father riding an elephant and the second one showed him stroking a lion cub. He looked so proud and told us how the lion was real, felt warm and soft and how he stayed in Bali a long time. He said his favorite photo was the one with the lion cub. He walked around the circle showing all his friends the pictures carefully, and then answered some questions put to him by our friends in the class. In the park the big shovels were again very popular and many of the children said they were digging for dinosaur bones at the top of the slide. Tokutaro was very excited when he found ‘something’ but it turned out to be a stone. After returning to the classroom we all looked at some numbers and how to write them.  DSCF8829We all write our names in the morning and we each chose a colored sheet titled ‘All about me’. On the sheet there was a space for us to write our names and then a space which said ‘I am ………..years old’. We then could write in our own age. There are a few more details to fill in over the next few weeks and so need to practice our writing skills. In the afternoon Ayaka did a game matching the English body pictures with the written words in English and Japanese. We managed to finish the card for Noa too. We all miss you. Have a great afternoon. All our Love, Darren and Ayaka
