How tall are you?

4 September – Daily Journal

??????????It’s great to see some Buds come in with their mum or dad and do their jobs and others wave goodbye at the door and come in with a smile and do their jobs. Once jobs were done this morning we even had some skipping into the classroom!

We continued to measure how tall Buds are this morning and decorate our height charts. Buds love using the Posca markers because the colors are so vivid. The height chart is long and narrow so most Buds ended up drawing long lines on their piece of the chart.??????????

Haruto and Dominik had a lot of fun making towers and putting all the shapes on the board. At one stage Dominik was so proud because when we counted his tower it was taller and Haruto’s. Sofie and Hana were really interested in the Mr Potato head that we put out this morning. At first Hana didn’t push hard enough for the ears and nose to stay in but she soon realized and with a little help was on the way. ??????????Sofie also enjoyed reading some books and chatting to herself.

What’s that funny wig? When Buds sang ‘Who Came to School Today?’ everyone took turns to put the yellow wig on and sing. Some Buds thought it was so funny to wear the wig and others were not quite sure if they liked it. Probably the teachers looked the silliest of all. Some children know kiiro, yellow in Japanese and are learning in English so we did a color game today. Everyone had to find as many?????????? yellow items as they could around the room, as quickly as they could. All our Buds found between 3 and 6 items.

“Put your hands in your hair and wiggle your hips” is a line from our Elvis song. Buds can wiggle their hips well now! We also danced to a favorite, ‘Put Your Hands Up’ with all our Buds doing the moves. We have a lot ??????????of good dancers in Buds class.

Before snack, we had time to play one last game in circle time. We touched our eyes, tummy, toes, chin and other body parts. As expected, no one knew chin but Buds were touching, patting and pointing to other body?????????? parts.

At the park the teachers were encouraging Buds to run around but they preferred to play with the sand toys until another school came to the park and they got up and chased after the bubbles. Once the sand toys were put away we roamed around the park, up the stairs, down the slide through the sand, ??????????going on a bear hunt. (A well known story which can be acted out).

When we came back from the park we had time to draw a face on the whiteboard. Some Buds thought it was their mother and some thought it was their father until we drew the hair and then it looked like a silly face.

 Thank you, Sharee and Sayaka
