Making faces and big smiles at the park today
2 September – Daily Journal
Busy little Buds! It was another fantastic day as we can already see our Buds trying to follow routines and listen to the teachers, and use their words while having lots of fun!
In the morning some children tried the lacing cards while others made some block towers, put the fireman and policeman into the fire truck and did the circle/cylinder stacking puzzle. The cylinder stacking puzzle is so popular in Buds class with children doing it again and again.
Buds could see some shapes on the art table today. What are these foam things I wonder…Faces! Buds didn’t hesitate to dip their fingers in the glue and stick squiggly eyes, noses and mouths on their faces. We asked how many eyes do you have and the answer was “two”. That didn’t stop some Buds from sticking several eyes on their faces. It’s the process, not the product…we don’t touch or maneuver the children’s art work so you will get their true, beautiful artworks.
Sofie also made her placemat today and drew some great tomatoes and cucumbers on it.
In circle time we were so happy to have lots of friends to sing and dance with. We counted everyone and then did our bumble bee name song. Almost everyone said their name today when the bee buzzed toward them. We had fun doing our body puzzle. When Sharee showed everyone a shape and asked them to guess what it was, Lanah said “egg” which was a great guess but it was the head, and start of our puzzle. Buds took turns to put a body part and then the parts of the face. We clapped when we were finished and stood up to sing and
dance to ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes’.
We were so happy to see the sun today so off we set for the park with big smiles. Again, our buds are doing a great job holding the rope all the time. Safety first! When we entered the park, Buds let go of the rope and ran to the slide, swings and sandbox. Hana, Lanah and Haruto found a worm and took turns to hold it. Yurika enjoyed going on the slide with the teachers. Riku spent his time in the sandbox and Dominik went up and down the other slide several times while Sofie was happy to wander around and got quite chatty in the park.
Each Bud took a turn to open a flap of our ‘Eyes, Ears and Nose’ book. Some children already know a few body parts so we will add a few more like ankle and chin while helping the other children learn the main body parts.
It was a busy day and quite hot at the park so the children who stay for sleep were out pretty fast today.
Enjoy the sunny afternoon
