A fantastic first week. We enjoyed the park and sensory play today.

29 August – Daily Journal

??????????It’s been a wonderful first week and everyone is settling in nicely. It’s so fun to see the children trying new things and getting the hang of doing their morning jobs, and learning their friend’s names. Some Buds know the teachers name too. This week we welcomed some new families to Ohana so we hope you get an opportunity to meet soon. We are so happy to have Faith (child of Lisa and Mark), Kaia (child of Fanny and Wouter) and Yurika (child of Keiko and ??????????Tetsuy) join our class.

Buds used the dress ups for the first time this week today. We had a princess, Spiderman

and a cowboy with a cell phone. As well as a few necklaces for the other children. The pegs ??????????were a fun way for our Buds to improve their finger strength, clipping them on trains, fish and caterpillars.

In circle time today after everyone put their name on the yellow board we did the actions to our color song, looking at our clothes and standing up and turning around when we had the color that the teachers said. Then we got some Buds to choose a color too. Because Buds love the musical instruments we got them out again today and danced to an all time favorite, ‘Freeze’.??????????

Yay, we went to the park today. For some Buds it was the first time to hold the rope to and from the park. We practiced outside the school and when everyone was holding the rope we walked to the park. We made up a song about holding the rope because some Buds were getting used to holding the rope continuously without getting ??????????distracted. Buds did a great job and everyone walked all the way back holding the rope.

??????????Hold the rope, hold the rope??????????

All the time, all the time

Hold the rope all the time,

hold the rope all the time

Everyone, everyone

We love doing sensory activities so today we put shaving foam on the table. At first our Buds wondered what we were doing and then Sharee?????????? started to whirl, squish, patter, squeeze the foam and quickly Hana and Lanah were right in, mixing, swishing and making , whirls, shapes, and zig zags in foam. We added some yellow dye so we could see it even better. Kaia was very hesitant and didn’t like it on her fingers but then she saw the others enjoying it so much that she ??????????then put her hands in and had a play around. Faith and Yurika had a little try with their hands but preferred to play with the dolls and furniture on the carpet.

Today everyone helped to set up their lunches and ate well. Of course some children from last year know the routines and are very fast to get their water and lunch but even our new Buds are getting their water and lunches too. Great job Buds!

Have a good weekend and see you next week
