Our Body models

On the main table this morning we saw there was lots of play-dough, a big bowl and some plaster in a bag. Yesterday Eito and Arata made plaster hand prints and so today Ava, Tokutaro and Nile all made their hand prints. We all pushed our hands into the play-dough as hard as we could and then mixed the plaster powder with water. We again made a little bit too much plaster and so with the extra plaster we made some beautiful butterflies. Next to the plaster hands area on the table we had lots of paper and colored paint ready. We could paint whatever we wanted and Olivia did a beautiful painting of a flower. Riko did a nice drawing of her mother using markers too.

We cleared away the toys a little bit earlier today so that we could get to the park before any rain started. We were lucky that it wasn’t raining and had a great time playing ‘What’s the time Mr.Wolf” where the children have to creep closer to one of their friends who is the ‘wolf’ and when they get close enough the wolf says “It’s lunchtime” and they chase all their friends until they catch someone. We had a our snack as soon as we got back as we were so hungry after running in the park. On the carpet we all looked at a book called ‘Going to the doctor’ which tells the story of a young girl who feels unwell and her mother takes her to the doctor. The doctor asks to look inside her mouth so we used a tongue depressor with Riko. Tokutaro then listened to Ava’s heart through the stethoscope too.

We all then helped identify parts of the body by looking at the poster on the wall, and then finding the corresponding part on the full size body. When we looked at the mannequin we noticed all the body parts but also noticed how the mannequin didn’t have any clothes on which we found really funny. We all made a small wooden body for ourselves and put our own face photos on first.

We then added lots of details such as shoes, pants, t-shirts, dresses and hair. We used some markers to draw, origami paper and cloth for the clothes and some yarn for the hair. We all laughed as they looked so funny together.
