I see a..............looking at me

It was a real summers day when we went to the park. It was so hot, our hair was wet because we all had our hats on and we were sweating so much. The park was really full because there were children from a Japanese school who joined us and so we had some new friends to play with and watch.

During the morning we played with flubber which has lasted a really long time. We like the texture of it as it is rubbery, and different from play dough. Some of us wanted to draw so we drew on small white boards and we also used magnetic ???????????????????????????????letters and numbers on the white boards. Our teachers set out a number game on the table however this was too difficult for us to do, in the way that it is meant to be played. So of course they adapted it and just let us do matching.

We spent time drawing on the large white board easel as well which is right near our kitchen ???????????????????????????????and dress up area. We continue to show an interest in the dress up area and the clothes which some of us wear every single day. At this stage of our development we move in and out of reality based play and are enjoying the fun and fantasy of being princesses, witches etc. We feel that we are the same even though we have different clothes on.

Today we played a new game using props that we wore. We started off in our circle where we held hands together and then we sat down and Shelley was hiding some pictures which she had on large pieces of paper. Attached to them from the top were ribbons so that we could hang ???????????????????????????????them around our neck, which was a part of the game that came later. When she turned the first one around, it was a number and we tried to guess it. Many of us knew the numbers and we called them out in big voices with huge smiles on our faces. Karl kept on saying the number eight and when it came up, he was really happy.

We sang the “Numba Rumba” song and pointed to the numbers each time we said that number. Then we played our other new game which we did yesterday, where we say a friend’s name and ask them “What do you see?” just like the book called “Brown Bear, what do you see?” Shelley ???????????????????????????????held up many different pictures that were all a part of the “Very Hungry Caterpillar” story. Then we all said a friends name and asked them “What do you see?” We all saw a cupcake, a lollipop, a piece of cherry pie, watermelon, sausage, salami, a pickle and an ice cream. Then we saw fruit as well. We saw a plum, an orange, a strawberry, an apple and a pear. We all had a chance to wear one of the foods that we saw.

???????????????????????????????We will play the game again tomorrow and now that we know how to play it, it will go smoothly and then we can include the story of the “Very Hungry Caterpillar”.

Thanks for a fun day at school today!

Love always Shelley, Hisami, Liezel, Nanako, Ayaka and Goh.
