Au revoir Marie
Well, today was the first real summers day here in Tokyo. We had a great time playing outside however our teachers preferred to stand in the shade. The sun was really bright so it is really important to wear our hats when we go to the park.
Today we said “Au revoir” to Marie as it was her last day working at Ohana International School. We love her very much and always love to see her beautiful face every week. We will miss her sooooo much and we all got together on the second floor to give her a present from all of the children and their families. She opened it really carefully and showed us the beautiful Thai bells. Kana demonstrated how her teacher uses the bells during her yoga classes. It is a beautiful sound and it makes one feel peaceful inside. We wish Marie Bon
Voyage, Bon Chance and all the best in her new life with her family in London. We love you Marie!
For the rest of the day we had free play time, singing and dancing together with musical instruments and reading library books. We sat at the tables and tried to complete the drawing that we need to make for our friends who are leaving and then we sat and did puzzles at the tables too. We enjoyed sorting the dinosaurs into their respective colours.
Upstairs we read “The Very Lazy Ladybug”. Kana has read it to us before and often when we have story time, we like to listen to the same stories over and over and consolidate our thoughts about them. Sometimes we learn new things when we read them many times.
We practiced our songs for Thursday for the end of year party with our parents. We have both songs and dances that we will be doing that day. Downstairs we constantly sing while we are working and here you can see us singing the ABC song while we were drawing.
Darren asked us the question: “What can you do?” We all held hands in a circle; then we put one foot in front of the other and stepped forwards to make it small; then we stepped backwards to make it big. We then had the opportunity to make suggestions e.g. we can touch our toes; stretch up to the stars; spin; hop on one foot; dance; clap; curl up into a ball on the ground etc. We spoke about the party on Thursday and then had fun blowing bubbles. We then said “I can blow bubbles”.
We want to remind everyone about the Pot Luck brunch after the party. Please fill in your name on the list on the notice board.
Thanks for a great start to our last week of the school year 2011-2012.
Love always Shelley, Darren, Kana, Goh, Sabine, Marie, Christine, Rachel and Miyuki
