Happy 4th birthday Nico
Yoohoo, Nico is four years old today. Happy Birthday Nico. We remember you from when you were just a little more than two years old. All of us were so lucky to celebrate with his mum, dad, sister Allie and Mayette. They prepared a huge feast for all of us and afterwards our teachers let us play in the park for a long time so that we could have lots of exercise and use up as much energy as we could. We want to thank Nico and his family for the beautiful and generous variety of snacks that they made for us. Yummmmmmm! We had cupcakes “a la Baby”; apple pies; macaroons, fruit salad and condensed milk which is a speciality from the Philippines; fruit juice as well as our own snacks. Nico gave a huge puff when he blew his candles out.
We sang “Happy Birthday to you”; “Nico is four years old today”; “When you’re happy and you know it”; “Four little candles”; our “Hello” song; “Open them, shut them”; “These are my ten little fingers”; “I am a little flower” and “Otanjobi Omedetou”. Afterwards we dressed ourselves warmly and went
outside to the park. We planted the flowers that we received from the ward office last week and really enjoyed digging in the brown earth with proper shovels. We had to dig a trough for the new flowers, behind the flowers that are in the front. We piled the soft brown soil behind the trough and once we planted the flowers, we filled the trough in with the same soil. We really enjoyed using ‘real’ shovels as it made it a lot easier to dig in the soil with them. All the equipment was delivered to the school with the flowers and we kept everything on the balcony as the weather was too cold and rainy then. If you go to the park, you will see our Ohana garden with lots of flowers growing. We noticed that the ones that look like cabbages have grown so tall, just like we have since we were born. We spent some
time filling our watering cans and bottles up with water so that we could feed the flowers in the soil.
Downstairs we played with the light box again and had a variety of things that we could use with it. We had cellophane shapes and colours, tissue paper and plastic tracing shapes. We switched the lights off so that the only light we had in the room was from the light box. It made everything look so much more interesting. We are enjoying the new layout of our classroom and love the “waiting area” near the door. Yossi used this for his doll and made a bed by moving the cushions around. Tokutaro held his doll in his arms just like a mummy holds their baby. We like to sit in the corner at the table reading books and still one of our favourite toys is the box filled with cars and trucks. Upstairs, besides celebrating Nico’s birthday, some of us decorated hearts for Clodia’s birthday which is at the end of the month. Nico played with the Lego and made a house with many pieces while Beckett helped Goh san look for books on butterflies in the library. Together we read “The Ugly Duckling” and we know that our mums love us no matter what we look like. We are all beautiful in their eyes. Our teachers are still waiting for information on some of our birth weight and height so that they can record it together with our weight and height measurements now. Thanks for a great day and enjoy the rest of your birthday Nico.
Love Shelley, Darren, Kana, Marie and Goh
