Welcome Ivory and Performance Practice

What a great Monday! The cloudy weather was upon us but it still created a window for us to have a magnificent experience at Ohana. We are so happy to be with our friends again, it is always a pleasure to spend this special day with them. We got some amazing toys in the morning and Yurika was the first one to be here in class. We saw some doll house toys, finger puppets and special costume. Our theme for this week is all about “I am a movie star!” So, it was an incredible time for us to put on some costumes and pretend to be actors and actresses. Sofia decided to wear the princess costume and it perfectly fits on her. She instantly looked at herself in the mirror. Yurika joined in and she definitely liked to wear the Peter Pan costume. She said that it was also Sofie’s favorite shirt. She put this on and then she got the big blue shoes together with the yellow bag. She began walking around the classroom like a superhero. We also welcomed Ivory today. She had an awesome first day. She liked to play with the sliding down toys because of the bells on each side. All of us welcomed her with a big hug and smile on our faces. We also had some clothing design activities. Sofia was the first one to try. She loved using the Posca markers. She started scribbling some lines and dots on her golden cloth. This cloth will be used for our special costume on performance day. Griffin came to our class and he said that he can stay in our class at the same time, he‘s going to wait for his mommy. And then, Jack and he decided to color on their golden cloth as well. During our circle time, we practiced acting the happy and sad emotions. We all had a nice time showing our emotions to one another. Kaia and Yurika were so dramatic and she perfectly acted the sad face. Sofia excitedly showed us the happy face. We then sang the number song and Jack was laughing all the time because of the actions that we were doing too. After that, Nanako told us that we needed to do some warm-up exercises and stretching. We sang “open and shut them” and then we put our legs straight and began to touch our head, shoulders, knees and toes. That was a good warm-up! Then, she also taught us how to dance because we are going to have our special performance. The boys danced with their knees, knocking them in and out. The girls moved their bodies from side to side like dancing flowers. It was fun to see how we did these actions simultaneously. The next action was the pigeon walk for the boys and shrugging of the shoulders for the girls. We did them at the same too. Taiga was pretty good in doing the pigeon dance. He was very confident showing his friends and teachers this action. We danced to the music and it was very delightful to see how cooperative we all were.

            We went to the park today and we saw the Flowers class there. It was pretty calm and quiet at the park. We all had a cheerful time playing with the swing, slides and sand pit. Thank you so much for the wonderful day! See you all again tomorrow!
