Happy party Luka and One more sleep

“And now the end is nearAnd so I face the final curtain”……. We can’t believe that tomorrow is the last day of school and we will say goodbye to our amazing group of friends and teachers in Petals Class. While we know that we will still see some of our friends, it is our truly cohesive, caring, loving, fantastic team that we are saying goodbye to. We know that everything has a beginning and an end and that the time in the middle is the most precious. We have valued every moment along the way; we have had joy and challenges, fun and learning, laughter and tears but most of all, we have had “friendship and caring, learning and sharing” and all of this, with endless

love. We are ready for tomorrow; to show our parents some of the things that we have learnt during the year and celebrate together with a fabulous snack party.

We want to thank our parents and helpers for supporting us during the year, for trying their best to follow the many requests from our teachers and for taking care of our lunches, school bags, snacks etc while we were in Petals Class. Our classroom is all ready with a long table, in preparation for our snack party and we moved all of our furniture so there is space for everyone. Today we had another kind of party and this time, it was to celebrate Luka’s fourth birthday which in actual fact, is at the end of June. We like our friends to be able to celebrate their birthday with us all, as a class, so we decided to celebrate his birthday, before the regular school year ends. His mum, Nanako, came downstairs from Flowers Class to celebrate with his. She brought along

one of his favourite books, called “Road works” which was given to him by his

godmother, Junko san. It is a wonderful story with some rhyming words and many words that had a musical sound to them. After Nanako read the book to us, Hana put a crown on Luka’s head and Luka counted for us in Japanese.

We all counted together in English; William L counted in Chinese and Manuel counted in Spanish. We then stood up to sing “When you’re happy and you know it” and we selected different actions e. g. clap your hands, nod your head, jump, shout ‘happy birthday’ (which Luka said was a bit noisy) so we whispered ‘happy birthday’. Then we sat down and sang our pretend candles song “Four little candles” and blew them all out. Then Luka blew the real candles out and we sang “Happy Birthday to you” in English and Japanese.

Nanako made sponge cake and fruit for us. We each had our own little dish with our name on a flag. Inside was sponge cake, and fruit. Yummmmmm! We want to say a big thank you to Nanako and Luka for celebrating with us. Happy birthday for the end of the month

Luka! At the activity tables this morning, we cut out a snail which then became a snake. The lines went round and round and round and when we had finished cutting along them, we had a jiggling snake. We decorated our snakes with markers and some sparkles and pom poms. We also tried to write some of our friend’s

names at the table. We used their flash cards and copied the letters to the best of our ability.

We also drew a picture of an animal which we chose from the soft toy box. We are becoming proficient at drawing things and our teachers are still challenging us, right to the finish line. Have a great evening and thanks again for all you do for us. Happy holidays, happy summer and all round joy and good health to everyone! Love always Shelley, Hisami and Liezel
