Two more sleeps till our party
It was so hot outside today, we had to use the air conditioning while we were resting because it was too hot to keep the doors open. We played a game with letters of the alphabet. We each took either two or three cards with letters on them. We then arranged all of the letters of the alphabet in order. We needed to concentrate on this task so that we knew when our letters came next.
Afterwards we tried to think of words that started with certain letters e. g. ‘k’ for Koh, kangaroo; ‘m’ for Manuel and ‘b’ for William B. We can work out some of the sounds and our teachers just want us to mostly enjoy the games that we play, without feeling pressured to learn. Learning takes place automatically in everything that we do; we don’t even know that we are
learning most of the time.
At the tables we did some drawings and rolled them up like a telescope to put inside our bags and take them home. Michaela pasted all of her pictures of our shop project, into her workbook/portfolio and then she went to the table where Shelley was, so that she could complete her 3D drawing. She chose to create a zoo and made so many animals. In fact, her page was not
big enough for all of the animals, so she added paper on the one side; then they all fitted in. When you look at her picture, you can try to work out what animals she has in her zoo.
Then we made some decorations for our classroom for our End of the Year party on Thursday. There were strips of coloured paper on the table and we had to make them into a circle shape. We used a stapler to join the ends together. We had to loop them into one another and we made a
really long decoration, which we hung up in our classroom straight away. During the morning we listened to our CD and joined in singing some of the songs. We heard that our friends in Flowers Class did an amazing performance this morning and we feel proud of them. We know that we too are going to have a great performance on Thursday for our families. We think that our parents can join in when we sing the Ohana School song because they know the words
already; just from listening to us singing the song.
Hana was the weather person this morning when we changed our calendar. Today is the second day in June and it was sunny when we first arrived at school. By the time we left to go home, it had become cloudy.
We still love imaginative and dramatic play in the dress up corner and today some of us had picnic after we had finished our shopping at the Ohana Shop. You can see that we are having tea,
taco sauce bottle, and mochi. We converted the shop into a house this morning and so we live in a house that is a shop; which is not unusual in some parts of the world today. We read stories in the library and are winding down the year with fun, friends and lots of learning. Have a great afternoon and evening and
looking forward to a cooler day tomorrow with some rain. Love always Shelley, Hisami and Liezel
