Happy birthday Darren, Sayaka and Maryna
It was a rainy Tuesday and we arrived at Ohana with happy faces. The rain was pouring hard but it was still a great day because we saw our friends and we are all ready to play with one another. We saw some beautiful morning
activities on the table and Yurika sat down and starting working on her butterfly art. Rupert came and he instantly found something to do on our table too. We also saw working on the butterfly art and while he was doing it, he tried to identify the different shapes and colors that
he could find. And then, we also saw on the other table that there were trays of paint and sheets of construction paper. Our teachers showed us how to do this artwork and Dominik voluntarily did it first. We put blue paint on our fingers, green paint on our palm. Then, we
stamped it on the paper as many times as we could. And then, we eventually learned that we were actually making a caterpillar.
We spent more time exploring our classroom activities. We found some wigs and
Lisa together with Yurika tried them on. Lisa got the long blonde wig and Yurika had the purple curly wig. Sayaka put out a big map on the floor and we’re all happy to use this map with our cars. Yurika thought it was a mat so she pretended that she was trying to put herself down to sleep. Most of our friends were
laughing because she looked funny when doing that. But then, we took turns using the map. Sofia, Rupert and Dominik were patiently waiting and identified the different things that they could see in the map. When Dominik and Sofia got their small baby toys, he said that his baby is going to sleep. Lisa felt that she wanted to do pretend sleeping too, so she stayed beside Yurika and Rupert and lay down on the floor and closed her eyes.
During our circle time, we sang “head, shoulders, knees and toes” and “the Butterfly song”. We saw some insect friends today too. We saw the ladybug, caterpillar and the butterfly. We also learned that butterflies love to drink nectar from the flower. We got some
toy butterflies and we put them on our fingers. And we all moved our toy butterflies, going up and down. We tried to make sure that we put our hands as high as we can to make sure that our butterflies can fly up in the sky. We also sang “Fly, fly, fly the butterfly” and we all danced to the music. Rupert was shaking and giggling while we sang our songs. It was the first time that we saw him danced like that. He was so confident with what he was showing his friends and teachers. Rei was also observing but later she gave a body shake while singing.
After our circle time, we saw that Petals class went downstairs. We thought that they just wanted to see our lesson but they joined in and sang the wonderful songs that our teachers played for us. Later on, the Flowers went down to our classroom and sat beside us too. Shelley told us that we are going to celebrate our teachers’ birthdays. So we saw Sayaka and Darren got their birthday chairs and Maryna who is working from office came a bit later and sat on her birthday chair too. We gave them the birthday cards and sang a happy birthday song for them. We love singing cakes, cards and crowns. And the Buds were so happy celebrating this special
event with our teachers. We asked them how old they are and Sayaka said that she’s 25, Maryna said she’s 18 and Darren replied 20. Shelley said that our teachers can sometimes play jokes on us. Thus, she meant our birthday celebrants were telling different ages. We gave them such delicious birthday cakes and they were so delightful receiving the wonderful gifts that we had for them.
It was such a lovely day again in Ohana and we thank everyone for coming and spending time singing and celebrating birthdays with us. See you all again tomorrow!
Lots of love,
John, Sayaka and Maki
