Happy Birthday Teachers

Today we celebrated our May birthday’s for teachers. Sayaka, Maryna and Darren all have their birthdays in May and we secretly made cards for them in the classroom without them knowing. We kept the surprise celebration secret from all the teachers and after free play time this morning we headed downstairs to Buds Class together. In free play time many of us completed our animal masks on the table. We used the tape to make the sides stronger, then the hole-punch to attach the elastic bands. Once we had attached these we could try on our masks and have a look in the mirror. Many of us also used the clear art easel with our friends. We sat facing our friends and then used the chalk markers to draw their faces. It was fun seeing our friends drawing right in front of our faces. Once we had finished we cleaned the easel with a wet cloth and tissue, ready for our friends to have a turn. On the carpet the ball tracks construction set was also popular with Toku, Adam, Eito, Marc and Lucinda. On the second table we used the animal stamps and ink pads to make our own pictures for our gallery work in the classroom. After clearing away the toys we went downstairs to see all our friends ready for the party. There was a cake with 3 candles set up on top of it. We volunteered to come and put the crowns on the teacher’s heads, and also give them the birthday cards we had all made for them. We sang lots of songs and also counted our teachers ages. It turned out that Maryna was 18, Sayaka was 25 and Darren 20. We are not sure if we believe these are the teacher’s true ages or just wishful thinking. After the party and snack we came back to the classroom we had our snack and then got ready for the park. Luckily the rain had already stopped and we played with lots of bubbles again. Playing tag and playing soccer were also popular this morning. After returning to the classroom we read a book together called ‘Three little kittens’ which is an old story and song about three little kittens that lost their mittens. Together we then played a game in circle time where we each chose an animal and then gave clues to our friends to see if they could guess the animal. Kosei chose a Cat and said it was black, Alexis a sheep and said it was pink with 4 legs, Nile a giraffe that was yellow, Jenny a tiger with stripes, Adam, a type of cat but no one guessed it was a lion, Toku a small and tiny animal, a mouse and Eito, stripes for a Zebra. It was a fun game and we managed to guess all our friends clues to the animals. Have a great afternoon
