Winter Wonderland 2
Today we were making origami Santa. We learned how to fold the paper and make Santa Claus. Riko was very good at folding paper properly with her ironing fingers. Some of our friends were able to make it without any help from the teachers. The second activity that we did today was making snowflakes out of origami. This was a lot more difficult because we had to cut out so many shapes, and some of them were really small. Many of us are skilled at using a pair of scissors, so we were prepared to face the challenge. Our snowflakes were silver and gold and we pasted
them onto a black paper as this background brought out the shiny colours the most. We pasted Santa Clause and snowflake on the paper, and then we put shiny pipe cleaner to hang it up for the Christmas decoration. After our long chatting snack time, we all sat down on the carpet and Ayaka talked about three important things that took place today.First, today is Ava and Lilian’s last day at school. They told us that they are staying at their daddy’s place now, and they are leaving tomorrow after breakfast. We will miss both of you so much.Second, today is Noa’s 5th birthday. We sang Happy birthday song in both English and Japanese. She was very proud of herself as a 5 years old big girl.Third, today is Hisami’s birthday, too.Just before the park time, we had a short discussion. The sky was getting darker and darker. The street was little
bit wet, but it was not raining at that time. Shall we go out or not? Shall we go to the park or just go for a walk?We had plenty of energy, so we decided to go out, but not to the park, just to the small space in front of the recycling center. We ran, skipped, ran backward, hopped, skated, jumped, and ran sideways from one wall to the other. It was a short exercise time, but we had lots of fun in the fresh air.In the classroom, we tried some yoga pose. We learnt how to
breathe, how to stretch our neck, arms, legs and bottoms. Lucinda’s arms were strong enough to do the table pose. Lilian had a very good body balance to do the flamingo pose.In the music time, we sang and danced a lot. Taiyo knew some actions, and he enjoyed moving his body. We also played musical stop game with some Christmas songs. Hisami brought the guitar to show us. She played all six strings and played do re mi fa so la ti do. We sang “twinkle twinkle little” star with the guitar today. Everyone had a turn to play the guitar. Noa sang a song while playing
the guitar. She was like a real singer. We also played the game “What is missing?” There were five little ornaments from our Christmas tree such as a snowman, an apple, a box of present, a christmas tree and an angel. Hisami covered them with a scarf and took one or two out of six ornaments, and then we guessed which one she had taken out. Ava had a
good concentration.Today’s book was called “Here Comes Santa Claus”. It was all about Christmas, the boy was excited about his present just like us. We are almost ready for our own holiday!!! Thank you for all the lovely memories, Ava and Lilian! And have a happy birthday night, Noa and Hisami!
