We had fun making Christmas trees and ornaments

Hmmm, our classroom smelt so yummy this morning as Buds walked in. the cinnamon play dough we had made last week had a lovely cookie smell and the teachers had made some popcorn so Buds could smell that too.

We had some busy art tables this morning with some Buds making the gift for their parents by painting an ornament that could be a flower, snowflake or Christmas decoration. It’s interesting to see that some Buds just painted the top of the decoration and some Buds painted the sides of the decoration. Either way, they turned out beautiful.

Buds also made Christmas trees on the other table. First we looked at the shapes on the table and discovered they were all triangles. Some children had to find a big triangle and stick it on their chosen colored paper and then a medium triangle and then a small triangle. Some children we gave a big, medium and small triangle to and they stuck them on. But our Christmas trees weren’t finished. We had to stick some ornaments on. Buts chose all kinds of shiny and sparkly circles, stars, hearts, butterflies, snowflakes and even teddy bears to stick on.

In circle time we sang ‘Jingle Bells’, washed our hands and went to sit at the tables. We were excited to see the popcorn machine on the table. After watching the popcorn popping into the bowl we all took turns to scoop it into the gift bags we had decorated last week. We counted and scooped 5 spoonfuls each into the bags.

Yay, the grounds at the end of the park are open again so some Buds had a good run around in there today. At first it was just Flowers in there running back and forth but Taiga was feeling particularly brave and decided to join them and then some Buds starting running up and down too. Sometimes in time with everyone and sometimes by themselves. Some of the older children also decided they should help our little ones and enjoyed holding hands and walking together.
