We went on an airplane to Hawaii today!

3 December – Daily Journal

This morning Buds enjoyed taking turns playing with our new ‘Computer’. We were given a keyboard so the teachers made a computer screen and Buds were busy tapping away on the keys. Sometimes it turned into banging so it was a good chance to remind Buds of how to use the keyboard and be gentle. Some Buds had an office going on with Faith pretending to be on the phone, Lanah typing what Hana was saying and Karl with his briefcase.

On the art table Buds were busy painting toilet rolls brown. (We are going to make some lovely reindeer with them). They were so busy enjoying painting the cylinder shape that they didn’t ask, as they usually do, what they are painting them for.

In circle time there was a basket full of trucks and cars and Sharee asked Riku to find the airplane amongst them. He looked into the basket and found it, pulling it out with a big smile. We looked at the airplane to see all the different parts. Karl knew the arms of the airplane are the wings. We borrowed a good book from Flowers which showed the inside and outside of an airplane. The teachers held up some red triangles and lots of Buds shouted out they were red and a couple said they were rectangles. These had Buds names on them and were the boarding passes for our airplane ride. Buds found their name with the teachers help and then lined up to board the aircraft. When we asked where we should fly to Lanah said “The American Club” but we thought we should go a bit further afield so we decided to go to Hawaii. We put the chairs back and then held hands in a circle. This enabled us to have the support of our friends to balance so we were able to lift one leg up high and hold it, lift a knee up and work together to all bend our knees at the same time.

At the park Darren taught Sayaka how to make paper planes and then Buds watched the teachers fly them. Of course they wanted a turn too so they were running around and flying the airplanes. Flowers joined in too. We were lucky that it was flower planting day today so Darren showed us all the flowers and some Buds chose a color and then planted it into the flower bed. They look so pretty all in a row.        Thank you
