Rainy day fun
26 November – Daily Journal
It was so cold and rainy when Buds came in this morning but that didn’t stop them from having big smiles and being happy to be back at school after the long
weekend.
Our train is still popular as Buds take turns to have a ride. If we have another rainy day soon we might have to make some more carriages.
Some Buds tried the self help boards on table this morning. Opening and closing the zips, undoing the buttons and opening the belt. They are great for little fingers to practice on.
On the art table Maki was busy helping Buds make our giant turkey for Thanksgiving. Most of us don’t celebrate Thanksgiving but we thought it’s nice to take the concept of being thankful and talking about it in our classroom.
In circle time the teachers talked about what they are thankful for. Sayaka said she is thankful for her mummy and daddy making yummy food for her. Sharee is
thankful to go and have fun at the park with her mummy and daddy and Maki is thankful for her mummy and daddy looking after her. It’s a tricky concept to get but it’s nice to talk about it a little. We all decided we love our mummies and daddies a lot.
We couldn’t go to the park today so we did some energetic dancing, a little yoga and then split up on the tables to do some art and block play. We tried a fun new action song today and Buds had to listen and copy the movement with the music.
The second time just the music came on with no instructions and Buds tried to remember what to do by listening to the music. We were busy skating, walking on tip toes, running, hopping, walking and galloping to the music.
On one table were lots of circles, triangles and rectangles and Buds stuck them on the paper to make trains, cars and buses. On the other table was cellophane that Buds had previously cut up and Buds had to
stick it on some laminate paper. We are going to make flowers to decorate the windows with.
Thank you
