The wheels and manners on the bus

DSCF1331When we arrived this morning we saw some little face photos of ourselves along with some cutout paper bodies. We firstly needed to find our own faces and stick them onto the bodies. We could choose from red, blue, green or yellow paper bodies and then used some sparkly pens to decorate our outfits. When we had finished decorating them we used some tape to put them into our hot air balloon artwork which is hanging from the ceiling. They look really funny and look like they are floating away. It was fun to all wave bye-bye to ourselves as we looked like our models were floating away and small in the DSCF1332distance. Also on the table were some wooden lollipop sticks, red, orange, green and black markers. With these we made some small traffic lights for our giant DSCF1337transport artwork. First we used the red marker to draw a red stop light, then the orange and then the green go circles on both sides. We used the black marker to color in the rest of the lollipop stick to look like a traffic light pole. To make them stand up we glued the sticks to a bottle cap. We worked a little more on the giant transport floor artwork too today. Eito, Kosei and Ava all used the strips of white paper to make the road markings while Adam, Olivia and Nile used some green paint to make 2 park areas on the artwork. Kosei and Nile then used a number stencil to put the DSCF1338parking space numbers in the car park. It is beginning to look really good and we DSCF1340shall continue working on it next week. Eito and Kosei really enjoyed using the materials on the literacy table too and found the letters for their names as well as writing them on the mini whiteboards. We were very lucky as soon some children from petals class arrived with a decorated sleigh to collect some of the presents to go to Tohoku at Christmas. We put the presents in carefully and they were soon whisked away. On the second table we set up the ‘Granny Racing’ set which the children love. It takes a little practice to keep the grannies on the track and to put them back when they fly off. We all took turns for 5 minutes racing time as it was so popular.DSCF1346 DSCF1351After snack we headed for the park where it was dry and a little cold. Jennifer and Olivia helped water the flowers in the Ohana flower garden as they looked a little thirsty. Playing ‘What’s the time Mr. Wolf?’ was also very popular with us today too. When we got back to the classroom we read a book titled ‘Rescue Action’ which showed us all kinds of rescue vehicles such as fire trucks, police cars, coast guard boats, firefighting helicopters and planes. It also told us all about the jobs they do as well. We then moved some chairs around to resemble a bus and each sat down. We started off by singing “The Wheels on the bus” song DSCF1354together and then imagined that someone wanted to get on the bus and needed to get past their friends DSCF1362to the seat. We practiced using “Excuse me” when getting past people and saying “Thank you” when they assisted us. It was really funny as Darren then walked like an old man and Ayaka got up to offer him a seat. Nile and Olivia then wanted to get on the bus and were wearing balloons under their t-shirt’s to look like they pregnant. Jennifer kindly offered her seat to them and they said “Thank you” DSCF1366sweetly. It was another great day of fun and play Have a great afternoon. All our love, Darren and Ayaka
