We had a very arty day
16 October – Daily Journal
We had a lot of fun at school today and were excited to see some Buds who have been sick back at school. We are missing our friends and hope the rest of our absent friends come back soon!
Jonah and Haruto enjoyed making the train tracks and putting lots of trains on them today. We had a new fishing activity on the table where you have to hook the heads of the fish to catch them. It’s quite fun so Buds can concentrate well to do it.
Wow, we had a busy day today with 3 different art activities to choose from. Some Buds continued to make their picnic basket healthy fruit and vegetables and some Buds made some great art with circle stickers and drawings. Both activities are great for Buds’ fine motor skills. Peeling stickers gets their fingers working hard and rolling balls and cylinders makes their fingers work hard too. And their coordination!
Because we only had a small group we all sat down and started to make our Halloween Trick or Treat bags. We stuck some eyes and a mouth on the ghost
and then we drew a face on the pumpkin to make a Jack ‘o lantern. Once we had done that we chose a blue, green or yellow cup and stuck them on. We just need to add the handles
Before we started circle time today Sharee called Buds over to the bathroom and gave them each a bottle of water. Hmmm, what was this for wondered Buds. We sat down in circle and did our name song and then out popped a very small witch. At first Buds didn’t know what it was but after looking at it for a minute they understood it was a witch. However it is a magic witch and even though it is small now, it will grow and grow and get bigger and bigger. So the water was to fill the container. It was quite enough
water so we lined up and filled our bottles a couple more times. We can’t wait to see the witch grow. We measured it and started a chart to record it getter bigger.
We also had some special mirrors to look at our faces; poke out our tongue, blow up our cheeks and touch our noses. They are circle mirrors which is perfect for our shape of the month being a circle.
We found some cupcakes in our picnic basket. We eat fruit and vegetables everyday but we should only eat cupcakes sometimes so maybe we find them in our picnic occasionally. In story time we read ‘If You
Give a Cat a Cupcake’ because we had seen the cupcakes in the picnic basket.
We went to the park with Petals today and on the way to the park we stopped to look at some Buds growing in some planter boxes. It’s great for Buds to see real buds swaying in the breeze, rather than just in pictures.
Thank you
